Lost my dad April of last year I was 48.
I had a dream just a couple nights ago that he and I were talking. I woke up in the morning and it seemed so real.

I was 16. He was 48.
He was sick my whole life. Actually, he was sick HIS whole life. Congenital heart defect. He wasn't expected to live past the age of 15 so I'm super grateful that I got him as long as I did.
I miss him always, and even 20+ years later it's still so painful, but I'm thankful for the years that I did have with him because he was so much fun.
Try to make the best memories you can while he's still here, and try not to mourn him while he's still here. I know it's hard.
Sorry for what you're going through.

30. He was 52.
You’ll get through it. If he raised you right, you are about to step up and be the man.

This thread is eye opening, and sad
so much pain at young ages
I am 55, my dad is still with us, at age 77
LSU graduate in 1965

I was 8. He was about a month shy of 38. My Mother had 5 chirrens, oldest was 16. If she's not in heaven, then I've no interest in the place.

I was 25, he was 59. His death was a strange situation. It was a few months after we lost everything in Katrina so that was a tough time. I’d take losing all my stuff over and over again than losing my dad, though.

Mine dies in 2020 (not from COVID). Was a kick to the gut and will never get over it completely.

I was 39 . He has suffered from Alzheimer's for 10 years . I would visit him once a week and leave depressed . I honestly thought of putting out of his misery several times . It was horrible and I just try to focus on the positives .

2 days after I turned 49, 2 months ago. He was 71, it's tough but dialysis is a bitch. He was tired and i'm grateful he didn't suffer any longer. i'm an only child and my mom has been having a really tough time with it.

I was 35 when my Dad passed away in 1995 at the young age of 56.

My father died when I was 44.
When my dad was 13, his dad died, along with his 8 year old brother in a accident.
he could have gone off the rails but he dug pretty deep and lived a good life. I realized too later, after he was gone, how well he took care of things.
Its been 2 1/2 years and I'm trying to live up to his standards. Its tough, I came within seconds of going WAY off the rails shortly before he died.
