I promise you're more replaceable than you think. I oversee an Autism center and have had therapist that have been the best I ever worked with and could work magic with the most difficult kids. I bent over backwards to make sure they would stay and when they ultimately left, it was rough going but eventually a replacement was found. NOW I'm talking about people being replaceable who administer a very specialized behavioral therapy to a very difficult and misunderstood population, you are talking about moving boxes. Hate to be an a-hole, but NO ONE is irreplaceable

Lol that’s racist as hell I’m white. How is it whiny to take a beating constantly and expect to eventually be treated fairly for you hard work?

I understand that Scott. That’s the problem, though. They act like I’m some superhero that they need, but when I need them they ghost me. I’m just tired of the act. They act like that to get me to bust my arse harder, but it’s not working anymore. If they need me they’ll pay me.

Honest question, what specifically have you done about taking a beating and not being treated fairfully?

Have you only whined about it? Have you stuck up for yourself and told your boss you won't be treated unfairly and need to be compensated for additional work?

Again, you need to find a new job, that much is obvious.

It isn't, but whining to a message board about how unfair your situation is IS. As of right now this is your role at UPS, don't like it, move on. Those are the option ahead of you. Sucks your work isn't being appriciated, but happens sometimes.

Sounds to me like you're on the outside looking in.

Start looking for another job because your opinion isn't valued there.

Honestly, good for you! They are taking the cheap route to get the most out of one of their employees and you are now seeing through the bullshite. Ball is in your court now.

depends on the circumstances, is this a full time employee; are these concerns referenced in the handbook when hired; is it covid related; are these just that person being picky and trying to detail work to themselves.

If there are legitimate concerns for a person's health, that is something completely different.

That’s a cop out. I’ve heard it before but never from a good supervisor

I had to put it in place to correct some issues from the previous person. It’s not hard and fast, but my first question is always, “how would you handle it?” If they truly don’t know, of course I help them through it. But most times they found the solutions they came up with were either spot on correct, or started conversations around process change for the better. It gave them more confidence and autonomy.

Before, they would walk in the office literally with a pen and blank page on a notebook ready to write down steps dictated to them.

I talked to the head of the entire preload about it, I’ve talked to her boss, etc. UPS has put themselves in a bad spot this year with covid and not preparing for the pain that this holiday season would be. The reason I say it’s a simple solution is because it is. All we need is an extra body. Someone who can do the easy while two of us do that heavy lifting and figuring out where the stuff needs to go. They know this, but they are too afraid of pulling someone from somewhere else. Usually I put my hard hat on and get it done, but I have a son now, and I want to make more money. That’s do able in the company, but I need them to allow me to move up. I’m only coming here to get opinions from people who deal with employees. I’m on the bottom right now, but they treat me like I’m a supervisor. I’m just not paid or respected like one. I’m just doing the work like one.

I’m texting on a phone, it has nothing to do with my communication skills. Younger people do know how to communicate, believe it or not.

Seems like you have 2 options right now:
1. Suffer through and plow forward hoping one day it gets better (who knows it might post COVID)

2. If you feel you are valuable and worthy of moving up give them the ultimatum. Tell them how you feel about your position there. Do it respectfully and mention that your intention is to be with them for the long haul, but not if you continue to be undervalued.

I think 2 is your play here. It's frightening and uncomfortable as hell (I've done it) but it will leave no doubt. You either get what you are looking for, or you know once and for all what your value is in their eyes at which point you should feel good about moving on.

been over 30 years since I worked as a pre-loader for UPS. IIRC we had preloaders, who were members of the union, and we had part time supervisors who were part of management. At that time, the union contract provided that for every 3 new drivers 2 had to come from the part time union members, (preloaders, unloaders, etc.) and one was to come from "off the street" the ones who came from off the street was always one of the part time supervisors.
If I understand you correctly, you are doing the job of a supervisor but you do not have the position which means you should be in the union. So file a grievance with the union.
