I’ve had moderate success since I started a few years ago, only betting $100 or so on maybe 1 game a week or so. Recently I’ve expanded my game putting down multiple bets per day and I’m still have decent success, but I’m starting to see how this could be a dangerous vice.
Point is, has anyone had sustained success betting sports often/for any extended period of time?

Jesus. frick barstool. Every swinging dick with a paycheck that watches sports suddenly can bet and make money.

If you’re so good come to Harrah’s Cherokee in a few months and bet in my cube.

Watch “Action” on ShowTime and you will quickly realize that sports betting is no way to make a living.

Calm down. I’ve been betting in casino table games for fifteen years and I don’t watch enough barstool for it to have any influence. Sports betting is new to me and I know the little success I’ve had is most likely a fluke. Just wanted to either see if there are any anomalies in here or confirm what I think I know

Define "moderate success". How much have you won? How much have you lost? Be honest.

People can make money betting DFS using a super-system-like process. To do that is more like a data job than a gambling job.

People can make money betting football but they need to have a strategy, a system, and in some cases the ability to move lines.

I have no experience betting basketball.

“Regular people” should gamble for fun and treat it as such. I made over $5,000 from the start of last baseball season through the end of football 2019-2020. That was probably my first winning season of the last 8 which was pretty much break even.

Last year I tried a little rather than just throwing darts at whichever game I was watching. For baseball I bet the pitchers. For football bet against the public and never take the over.

Nothing but honesty in this forum. When I was betting 2-4 games/month I might play about $400 to win around $650 or so. The past 3 weeks been betting about $400/week and I’m up around $1200 total since. I realize it’s mostly luck, but if I can do it with minimal research others must’ve at least gotten duped to think it’s sustainable

It's called a hot streak or running above the mean. Short term sports betting success is a fickle bitch.

that $100 will turn into $500 then $1000.

I would bet small early in the week and if I was winning would bet up as the week went on. I did well at times but it will catch up and you will have some bad weeks

Very few.. And even they have their ups and downs.

Someone might place their very first sport bet. Let's say they bet on 3 different games and they win all 3. They have won 100% of their bets, but if you are doing this on a regular basis.. Well lets look at it from a football season.

People who bet football during the season, the ones who do this shite for a living (which means they are studying the numbers all week), overall they win no more than 54% - 55%. Sure, they might have a year where they pick 64%.. The next year they could have a bad year and go 40%.

But start a bankroll, but only the amount of money in it you are willing to lose. You can build it up before you start, already have it or whatever, but every time you get paid you can put a small amount into it. But don't go beyond what you have in your bankroll.

Continued success year to year? Nope. I had by far my best year betting this football season, it was like I couldn't lose. The years before that were all negative or close to break even. Just the way it goes

I gamble to make games more interesting and to entertain myself, if I needed the money I wouldn't be risking it on football games

Just bet in amounts of what for you is "just peanuts", but bet seriously, after doing your research and the like.

Then, learn to enjoy the Wins, even though you bet peanuts. The losses won't hurt too bad because, again, you're betting in amounts of what is "just peanuts" to you.

If you can play for five years and almost break even, you should consider yourself to be a very smart sports gambler that has had a lot of fun gambling over the last five years.
