Moving from Louisiana to Texas and owning a home it was not that much difference. They will always get you.

Tax code is better. Have you seen the billions being invested in Louisiana since he’s been governor? It’s more than all of John Bels years combined.

I thought this was supposed to be a conservative state who hated taxes?

Conservatives do, but some republicans like taxes just fine.

We pay less in property taxes than most other places.

No way does my house sale for what the parish thinks it's worth.

My state income tax went down but the property tax went way up. Add in the tolls and it’s only a couple grand a year. I was smart about my house purchase but could easily be paying 30k a year in property taxes in Texas.

Please explain and quantify all of these results.

I’m not doing the work for you. Ask chatgpt to spit that out for you bitch boy.

Please explain how a higher sales tax is worse if your income tax is reduced?

So you don’t actually have an answer and don’t have any facts to support your statement? Got it

Are you really this ignorant? You didn’t include any tax rates or anything. What if the decrease in income tax is smaller than the increase in sales tax? If the state is bringing in more revenue, then we’re being taxed more.

I’d also much rather pay property taxes than income taxes. frick income taxes.

Income taxes are theft, but property tax is worse. Why do I have to pay taxes on something I already own? Is the government going to do anything to my property if I have a problem? frick no, I had to pay for it.

Hate taxes? Live and work in Vancouver, WA, shop in Portland, OR.

If blue state Washington can have a lower sales tax rate than Louisiana without an income tax, it is time for Louisiana to abolish the income tax.

Yes. You think the police and fire brigades are private entities?

And then the business gets audited. They hit you with penalties and fees on exemptions.

Schools? The great hoax put on this state was the gambling debacle. Gonna do great things for the schools! What an abject failure that is. Thanks Edwin. This state is so full of corruption.

Louisiana State Sales Tax has so many exemptions no wonder it is so high.

If we went back to taxing food and utilities on the state side, we could probably roll off 1-2 cents making our sales tax seem more reasonable to other states, or take the next step in eliminating personal income tax.

Also, in places like Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes, they have an extra cent dedicated to levee construction and maintenance costs, so that adds to the local portion of sales tax. Had the locals not tax themselves, a place like Terrebonne would be a different place with no levees while waiting on the feds or the state to build them.

Over the years, that one penny has turned into over a billion in construction from the state matching local dollars and local money bonded on this tax
. Only within the last few years, the feds have arrived with their checkbook. Those levees have saved billions more in losses due to storm surge.
