That is very specific case to be able to do this. You are talking about a business truck and not personal use really. Even then it is a little tricky on the business side and not much in scheme of thing of running a business.

My daughter bought a Honda Insight, and hybrid car. She asked at hat dealership about an extended warranty. Told her about $4100. Told them sounded too high she was going to shop around. Said you can't do that has to be bought from this dealership. Did a little on line search and found the exact warranty for $800 a dealer in S Dakota.

Evidently a group of Honda dealers sued and tried to stop them from selling the warranties that cheap. Dealers lost.

I’m not an advocate for extended warranties on anything other than vehicles.

I just got an entirely new engine in my Ram thanks to my extended warranty. Cost me $200. Otherwise it was 13k

Or you could be not disappointed that you didn't have to repair the vehicle (use the warranty), and still have $4000 (or whatever it cost) in your pocket

This. The odds are on the house’s favor.

I always ask the salesman why I need to buy insurance if they make a reliable product.

With as much as you drive and then buying a vehicle every 3 years, wouldn't you come out ahead by leasing?

What tax credit is this, state specific? We have about 12 work trucks spread over Texas and Oklahoma. F-150s and Tundras.

I think it is great themetalreb is taking the time to down vote every post that does not agree with his waste of money. That is the kind of commitment this world is missing

Where would this be applicable? Are you saying that you have an 18-wheeler company and they won’t let you write off a F-150 or something?

Speaking of the warranty BS, I am looking at new Yukons and Tahoes today. I looked at the 2025 Expeditions and all that new electronics/screens thumb/mouse controls scared the crap out of me. Especially with it being the 1st year. I don’t see how you can buy a new vehicle with all the electrical crap and not buy it. (If it even covers that crap.)

Now, I bought a work truck back in March and didn’t buy the extended warranty. I don’t have nearly the amount of BS as the Yukons and Tahoes do in that truck.

Make sure you get the ceramic coating and headlight fluid coverage as well.

All decent vehicles accomplish the same thing...take you from A to B.

Why any human wouldn't buy the one with the longest original warranty, is moronic at best.

My wife and I both have 2019 GMC vehicles and we both bought extended warranties. Each of our vehicles were in the shop no less than 5 times for large jobs while under warranty. Since the warranties expired back in 2023/2024 we've both had major transmission work done that was not covered by warranty. Her A/C also just went out (for the 2nd time) and the dealership wants $5500 to fix it. frick GM

Also have a 2019 but never gone to the shop. What were the issues?

When things were made to last, it was a scam.
Now though, for a stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer, you know, major appliances, it's probably cheaper to buy the extended warranty in the lo g run.
Someone should do a study on the life of appliances to see how in line they are with lasting past their warranty.
