Someone with a jet access like that chooses to live in Hammond?
The airport is in Hammond, doesn't mean they live there.

That's what I gathered too from the clip, seems like far stretch ole Leneau is trying to make and be outraged about.

Notice he says “ they fly, PRESUMABLY”, their CEO back and forth….He doesn’t know and the article conveniently says that it “FLYS THEIR CEO EVERY 2.2 DAYS”.

Now let’s do an article on the plaintiffs attorneys and some of their lavish expenditures. Which one has a helipad on his building in Baton Rouge?

Is this a total waste? Absolutely.

But this isn’t the same thing as if a mayor were doing this with tax payer dollars.

Stop bitching and complaining about the things you cannot change and start with the things you can.

But why?? Surely by the time you drive to Lakefront, take off, land, and then drive home is more than just driving from New Orleans to Hammond.

Democrat attorney doing work for the trial lawyers. As if buying all the TV ad space from 8am to 6pm on local channels doesn't get listed a a business expense by the trial lawyers.

Does this explain why Louisiana has the worst auto insurance rates in the country and far worse than Mississippi, Alabama and Texas though weather and demographics are similar?

Yes, because we have so many great insurance companies to chose from in order to buy something the government forced us to buy.

This expense is definitely unnecessary, but its a micron of a drop in the bucket for premium revenues.

It makes for good media blitz, but if he walked without shoes every day, you wouldn't notice the difference in premiums even if you were looking.

Okay I thought about this and ran some numbers.

If he is flying a Cessna, a Cessna will use about 7-9 gallons of aviation fuel per hour. If the flight is 30 minutes and you are calculating round trip at an hour or a reasonable expectation of using 9 gallons of aviation fuel per day at 6 dollars a gallon. That is 54 dollars in fuel cost round trip.

Now flip to a vehicle, let’s say he is driving a Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade which gets a a combined average MPG rating of 19 miles per gallon. Hammond to New Orleans via I-10 and 55 is about 60 miles or 120 miles round trip, so rounding down you would use about 6 gallons of gas or about 20 dollars of gas depending on where you fill up.

So the state senator is getting mad over 34 dollars.

I know there are more metrics to this like cost of insurance and cost of a vehicle compared to a airplane and other factors like now someone has to pick him up at Lakefront and bring him to the office.

It would have to be a citation since the article says a jet.

It is when said insurance company is trying to raise their rates in the state because they are "losing money". How much money are you really losing when you're able to take a jet from NO to Hammond?

…but then our lawmakers would have to fly coach and hunt public property.

He is a Democrat Senator so to him a any airplane could be called a “jet” to ruffle a few feathers and stoke up the class warfare argument.
