Found the loser that wants our tax dollars to go towards these crap projects.
It’s not about being scared, it’s about exposing yourself to something that is inherently dangerous and wishes to cause you harm. If you’re ok with that, then by all means donate your paychecks to these organizations.

do you realize thats not the Amtrak? are you afraid of trains in general bc of this?

quote:

The Lynx Blue Line is a light rail line in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Opened in 2007, it was the first rail line of the Charlotte Area Transit System,[2] and the first major rapid rail service of any kind in the state.

quote:

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is the agency responsible for public transportation in the Charlotte metropolitan area. Established in 1999, CATS operates bus and rail transit services in Mecklenburg County and surrounding areas. CATS is governed by the Metropolitan Transit Commission and is operated as a department of the City of Charlotte.

Never said public transportation was bad. I said that the inability to control whether a violent thug sits next to you and wants to harm/rape/rob… etc you is something that dissuades many from wanting to use it. You can call it being scared, but many of these victims were doing nothing at all before they were attacked. You call it being scared, I call it pattern recognition. We all apply this to every decision we make everyday. I am not sure why you’re emotional about this. But it’s going to be ok. Hope you continue having good experiences on Amtrak and every other venue you choose.

I'm tired of these bailouts of big businesses. If Brightline fails, the state should not bail them out.

I've gone on the train once or twice just for the heck of it and it was nice. But if you really think about it, it really doesn't serve that much practical purpose. Paying something like $40 round trip a day to go from Fort Lauderdale to Miami or West Palm Beach and back is not affordable for all people, especially when it barely shaves any time off of your commute. Then you have to add in the time and money to get Uber to take you to the office, unless your office is right across the street from the train station. It really is not that great.

On top of Brightline not being as fast as the true high speed trains, commuter trains really don't serve much purpose unless the city has a real bus system that you can take from the train station to the office. And the US of course has the worst bus systems in the world.

Killer Train: Brightline death toll surpasses 180, but safeguards are still lacking

Miami Herald did a story on brightline being the deadliest train in America. And it looks like some posters here made it into the article.

quote:

On one popular Instagram account that tracks Brightline deaths, victims are frequently mocked and derided. “The Darwinism Express doing the Universe’s work,” someone commented after a Brightline crash in June. “I’m sorry, but if you get hit by a train, you deserve it,” read a comment after another death in May.

One website attempts to keep a running tally of those “the train hath slain.” Elsewhere, Brightline is sardonically dubbed “Frightline” or “Flatline.”

The U.S. has a bad bus system because we have the greatest car system in the world, which beats taking public transportation every day.

Americans love to act like public transportation in other countries is soooo amazing until they actually use it.

Go to any country with great public transportation and the wealthy still drive. Driving is just better. Except for cost.

The places that have the best public transportation generally have the lowest percent of personal vehicle ownership. Italy’s public transportation sucks because they like their cars and motorcycles, for instance.

It is difficult to ask rational people to mourn a Florida Man or Woman if they have managed to check out early.

This is every train. Trains move product pretty well, but people are too expansive and no one will pay the real price of the cost of travel so it has to be subsidized.

Subsidies come with corruption and waste and all passenger trains inevitable lose millions. Ferries are even worse.

I have every intention of using this service on our next Disney trip. I’m over the parks. The kids are older but the wife wants to go with her younger nieces. I’m hitting the train like a hobo. Found a peacock bass guide in palm beach that will pick me up at the train station.
