Serious question to everyone in this thread that thinks this is not humane. Do you eat chicken? Chickens are brought to processing facility stuffed in cages. Driven down highway like that. Probably scared to death. Then unloaded and each chicken gets hung upside down and sprayed with water that has a little electricity in it to make them stop fighting. Then a machine cuts their head off. Then the body gets dunked into hot water to loosen the feathers. I eat chicken and appreciate that someone has to kill them. I also appreciate that this story sounds like the Ag class at school raises chickens and a couple raccoons killed several of the classes chickens. This is reality when raining animals. Was it humane how the raccoons killed the chickens? Pretty humane to me to drown chicken killing raccoons. Last coon that got into my coop got shot.
You are stupid.

Chickens aren't cute.

Drowning is a pretty shitty way to go. I'm all for killing the coons, but I wouldn't have done it like that. I definitely wouldn't want my son to see an animal being killed that way at school.

i would love to take this teacher and put them in a cage and drop them into the Banana River, and let it sink to the bottom, then come back the next day to recover and bury them.

This is grade A trolling, or mentally retarded, i'm thinking it's the latter.

A lot of people drown trapped coons where shooting guns is off-limits.
Doesn't bother me.

I kill rodents all the time like that. Trap them in a cage and toss it in a pond

The real question is did the teacher make a roux first?

I'd venture to say I've killed more things than most people here, but drowning an animal is just not something I'm going to do unless said animal and I are in a life and death struggle in a body of water. I realize they were at a school and couldn't just shoot it, but the teacher should have had enough common sense to have them taken somewhere else to be shot (or released).

Looks like a upper classmen science class that was holding a 'hands on' session.
Maybe they should have signed permission slips or maybe they did at the beginning of the year.
If my kid wanted to drop the class because of it, I would hope he/she was allowed to change.
But I personally think that's a very 'accurate' and 'how it's done' learning experience for kids interested in that field.
1. Why waste bullets and risk possible injury to humans?
2. It's a lot less mess than blades
3. A lot less danger to environment than poisoning.

But I personally think that's very 'accurate' and 'how it's done', including on most farms where they have 3-4 a day. Why waste bullets and risk possible injury to humans? And it's a lot less mess than blades and a lot less danger to environment than poisoning.
Good points.
