Why would you want them in a shelter?

I don't think anyone does, but as others have previously stated, why would he publicize it? Why not just do your job? How does that tweet help anyone other than himself?

It seems he would prefer...

It does work like that. Unless you committed a violent crime, they wont come after you.

Exactly, not sure why he would think otherwise

Hell even many of the violent crimes, they dont do shite unless its prolific or in the media

I knew a guy who multiple felony warrants, lived at the address on his DL, and they didnt even come after him. Hell he even was interviewed by an officer at his home because he witnessed a hit an run, still no arrest. Yet he gets pulled over for speeding, then off to the clink.

I'm sure some of it is political. What isn't these days?

I don't think he should have made this public and just kept it quiet. Fugitives will think twice now about going to shelters to avoid being arrested.

They aren't that smart. That is why most of them eventually get caught rolling through a stop with a headlight out in a car with expired tags while operating rolling meth lab in the back seat.

People with active warrants are literally breaking the law by walking around freely, so if they are IDed anywhere they should be booked.

If he is talking about traffic and misdemeanor warrants then I say it's BS.

For any others I say bravo especially the sexual predators

To keep them away. I'm pretty sure all police depts. are already going to have their hands full with the law abiding citizens without the interference of the criminally inclined. Every time a felon shows up to a relief center and gets "caught" then that deputy will have to take off time at the center to processing paperwork at a police station instead of helping the majority of good folks for one bad dude.

I'd probably done the same thing considering the circumstances.

Criminals should be treated as second class citizens. Good on him for putting that into practice

I think we need to make two seperate sex offenders lists.

One, a public one, viewable by all that includes ALL forced rapists, ALL molestation and ALL acts against a minor by an Adult.

Then a second one only for LEO to track things like teens who send pics and get charged as sex offenders, or 19 year olds with 16 year olds who started dating as 15 and 17 year olds (both recent cases). There are just different degrees.

But I also feel that forced sterilization for rapists and forced castration for predators.

Anyway, on topic. If they throw someone in jail during a hurricane over a traffic Bench warrant then that is shitty.

could cause residents with minor warrants to risk their lives and potentially the safety of their family members.

If it is a minor warrant, and the perp CHOOSES to risk his life over jail. . .then why should anyone shed a tear?

He CHOSE that route. Respect his CHOICE
