It is kind of dumb. Unless your kid lives under a rock, they will get exposed to gay people in pop culture/the internet etc. Hopefully parents are explaining these things before they learn about them. This seems like the ultimate stick your head in the sand strategy.

Parent sues over secret LGBT meetings with her daughter
quote:

Jessica Konen filed the suit last week against teachers Lori Caldiera, Kelly Baraki and the Spreckels Union School District for allegedly manipulating her seventh-grade daughter to change her gender identity under the guise of the district’s “Parental Secret Policy” where teachers could counsel students about their gender confusion and assert a new gender identity without notifying parents.

quote:

Ms. Caldiera and Ms. Baraki would instruct students to research a particular topic and then have follow up discussions with the student about that research. Sometimes, Ms. Caldiera and Ms. Baraki would introduce and push LGBT+ identities on students that the students resisted.” The lawsuit also claims the two teachers tried to hide the students’ participation in the club by not keeping track of attendance at the club meetings, which were usually held during lunch.

Sao,

What are your thoughts?

Good. This shouldn't have any opposition whatsoever.

Well yeah. They have to recruit and get their ideas out there and keep pushing past the natural disgust everyone has. There are societies where it doesn't exist, an anthropologist tries to explain to these tribesman and they just give a confused look. Man goes with woman, the end. My parents grew up in the 50s and really never heard of it until college. It simply wouldn't even occur to people.

Kids can discuss whatever they want. It's always been that way.

But what teacher is going to jump in with her opinion now, knowing she will be turned in immediately?

Legislating this and supposed teaching of CRT is simply red meat to address issues that are way down the list of problems in our schools.

It ensures the usual strong turnout in the Villages though!

It’s not just a rando, these kids spend a lot of time around teachers and look to them for guidance, especially true in younger age ranges.

No doubt. But in my day, mom and dad had the first lessons and last say. Test it out... try convincing a 4 year old child a puppy stuffed animal is a zebra.

What if there's not a good mom and dad around?

My sister is gay and we got into an argument over this, she is pissed about it.

But the reality is there's been issues with teachers trying to CONVINCE an elementary age kid they were LGBTQ.

Elementary age is ridiculous.

I miss the days when people kept it to themselves by staying in the closet.

In my opinion the bill goes a little too far when school councilors can’t discuss the topic

That’s what they want you to believe, and some of you are stupid enough to fall for it.

Thoughts OT?

We wouldn't have to do shite like this if more conservatives went into education. But since there's no money in it, I guess we're stuck having to create all these ridiculous laws to control the liberal teachers.

Imagine a world where young conservatives were actually entering the Education and Journalism fields.
