Nah, I give him credit for trying to replace all the FL cops who have already died of COVID. In fact, it's the leading COD for cops in the nation and has hit FL especially hard. Desantis is just trying to make sure that those spots are backfilled to maintain public safety.

interesting find mmmbeer. probably the only COVID related metric you can find comparing Florida to Blue states where Florida looks worse. Especially considering the average age of their population.

For fairness, care to find us a metric comparing police deaths by citizens by state?

Seems like 100 times that many have quit or been fired over the mandate. But I’m just guessing.

$5000 to be a cop in FL isn't going to entice a lot of folks. They'd need to sweeten the pot substantially.
It is substantially more than $5000 - they'll also get a paycheck.

It's the leading cause of death and there was a marked increase in police deaths. That was my point...not commenting on the numbers themselves.

You are a liar.

You said he needs to replace cops that died from covid in FL.

They aren’t offering this up because a few cops got sick and died.

Your gotcha was retarded and you should feel bad. But you don’t because it’s just a game to you liberals, you don’t stand for anything.

I most certainly stand for being a smartass which, if you had any brain power whatsoever, you would have caught.

But rural Florida is very…unique. We can’t discount that as a contributing factor.
As opposed to rural Georgia, rural Alabama, rural Arkansas or Mississippi?

We love it here. Living in a suburb of Orlando. We have 5 acres for less than half the price we were looking at year downs in Metairie. Currently developing the land we bought another house in Dr Phillips and renovated it, plan fo keep as a rental.

We’re less than an hour from cape Canaveral, clear water beach and Daytona, we’re 15 min from Disney. I’ve seen playoff baseball and hockey and been home in less than an hour.

Best part me and the Mrs love kids but we’re only going to be able to have 4 if we lived in Metairie due to the private school cost (I know big family) but we can afford 5 here. My wife is making 40% more here with less work and I’m making 30% more here and there are A+ rated public and charter schools all around us.

Man I was reluctant to move but looking back I don’t know how I go back to Louisiana now.

Only 20% of NOFD are vaccinated, there’s no mandate, but the unvaccinated have to get tested every tour.
Teedy tried to make the unvaccinated pay for the test too, but was quickly chopped down by the union.

If Florida offered firefighters the same deal, you wouldn’t have a man left in NOLA.
shite, at this point in my career I’d moved to Florida for $2500.
I used to defend this city, but it’s an absolute shite hole and the pay is atrocious. Anyone who disagrees doesn’t travel much.

And a substantially higher paycheck if they come from Louisiana.

They're already getting a paycheck.

They aren't asking for people to move there and become police officers. They're asking for people who are already police officers to move there.

They're giving police officers $5k to move. I wouldn't move down the street for $5k.
