Hadn't thought about it before (never have I had a craft boarded by the CG), but how does that square with the 4th Amendment if you are in US Waters?

Why are they charging him when he didn't ask to be rescued?
Seems if they would have just let him do his thing he either would have died. (And then no need to rescue) or succeeded.

So if you don’t have a vessel that is deemed worthy to be in the ocean, you are told by the coast guard to come back to shore and if you don’t you are arrested?

How do they arrest him? They don't wanna have to spend money rescuing him I guess but that sucks to arrest him.

Reza has begun his journey! Starting from Pompano Beach, Reza had help from a local boater named Julian who pulled him out off of the 14th St. Causeway boat ramp. At 10 pm, We headed out toward the ocean, Reza in tow with the help of Ricky Salazar!! Rick has been instrumental in assisting Reza through this year's new hydrpod project and we can't thank him enough for all of his time, effort and belief in the cause. At this point we left Reza stuck in a sand bar- by his wishes. We couldn't have gone any further as we would have been in danger of running aground. Later, solo he proceeded to rock the gigantic metal beast back and forth in the middle of the night-hitting him in the head a few times until he was over the hump and onto the ocean side, where he encountered a couple of sharks in the water nearby. Luckily, he was wearing his bicycle helmet for protection! He jumped back in and proceeded North only to be stopped by the Coast Guard the next day at Boynton Beach. They pulled him in, had him sign a waiver, and gave him a few days to "Get it off Their property." He had his Hydropod trailered up to St. Augustine by a couple of friendly locals, where he continued to work through the kinks and get ready for his 2021 voyage. A friendly local named Dave trailered his hydropod over to Vilano Beach where a group of locals helped to push him out in heavy surf. I'll be posting those videos shortly. Today is the big day Reza has been dreaming of for the past year! Just a little bit on the purpose of this trip. Reza, a world class athlete has tried again and again to reach his goals, whether it's running on land or the ocean to raise not only money for his projects but also awareness to the plight of the homeless. Any money raised will go towards that end. Reza's ultimate dream is to open a training camp to help the homeless. It's a completely different model, where homeless men and women would use the facility as a half-way house to regain control over the lives of themselves and their families.
