I love how ESPN just rolled with it. The person who wrote the article got told the story, or read it somewhere and was like ....yep that sounds legit.

To be fair, I think this is why UF is jumping the gun to get rid of this.

As if there’s been on single solitary UF fan doing the gator chomp In the stands thinking of this mental picture instead of taunting the opposing team. So incredibly ridiculous It’s like the mentality of three year olds we are dealing with here today. How can you possibly hold an adult conversation with such people?

Jesus. Alright I agree that’s fricked up

If it were true...but it isn’t.

So if I make something up, even if it isn’t true, it makes it racist?

Did you know that the term B B Q comes from a racist event where “Black Bucks” that were no longer of use were “Queued” up And slaughtered, then their meat was grilled over a fire of bones to dispose of them. Then they were fed to slaves. The sauce was used to cover up the flavor of human flesh.

so if you have a BBQ pit, like BBQ or eat BBQ sauce you are a racist. Time to cancel BBQ.

Don't need any help melting. Can't believe Fuchs believed a false story and banned the chant.

How fricking stupid.

Of course they will. The band just won't be involved. They will keep doing the chop, as they should. The chances of the gator chop going away are even more slim than the chance those annoying arse cow bells were ever going away.

That’s a beautiful sight. Will be even more fun to mock them with their chomp when they aren’t allowed to do it.

African American babies were used as alligator bait, according to the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia at Ferris State University, citing newspaper articles and imagery from the late 1800s and early 20th century. The term "alligator bait" was also used as a racial slur against African Americans.

Intelligent reporting can not be expected of an outlet that only reports on sports.

The reporters are no more intelligent than the majority of the people they report on.

Personally, unless it's proven that the university derived its chant from early student members participating in the disgusting act of literally feeding babies to gators. Then I really so no reason at so all to get rid of the chant.

I would venture a guess that the chant did not in fact come from people actually feeding babies to gators. If you want to look at it how a slave owner would have looked at it: would they have really traded the life of a baby for an alligator hide? Wouldn't the baby have been worth more?

Of course. They are also saying the klan has reappeared and is lynching black men.

People are fricking Morons who want to believe they are victims at every turn.

Damn the truth, damn the facts, damn evidence, damn reality.
