I'm happy for the kid, but frick those bullying people. Seriously, I've had a huge disdain for bullies and it actually started from the last person you'd expect.. my 8th grade history teacher.

We had a blind kid in our school, Josh, who used a blind walking stick and since my HS was so small and had a very simple layout (it was basically an sideways "H", to get around he would tap the side of walls and then count the doors to know what room he was at.
My fricking teacher heard him coming down the hallway one one afternoon as you could hear the tapping of the stick on the walls and told us to be quiet and not make a noise so he wouldn't know where he was.
He came in the room and nobody said a fricking word and she had this grin on her face. Josh, got confused and said "hello" and the room was still quiet so he started backing out of the room. I straight up said "This is fricked up" to the teacher.
I didn't get in trouble or anything of course but ever since then I never have turned a blind eye to somebody being bullied.

And he's still my buddy to this day
I'll also make note of another guy (who was a bit of troublemaker in school) knocked a dude out who was slapping Josh in the face my 10th or 11th grade year.
Totally didn't expect him from this guy as he was bit of a bully himself, but he laid a dude flat out.

Now, imagine if josh, instead of being a sympathetic figure, simply went out of his way to be such an annoying and awful shitbag that everyone would see him being messed with and say “no, he deserves it.”
