Flooding in Nola discussion

Want to keep this thread focused on areas taking on water in Nola from today's monsoon. I keep seeing the videos on social media. Are businesses/restaurants/bars flooded on Canal and in the FQ? What about uptown? I've got a two buddies in uptown that have confirmed flooding in the first floor / basement areas of their homes.

Believe it or not, there are homes in New Orleans with basements.

I live uptown. Brother sent me a video of about 2 foot water on our street (Webster and Magazine) then sent another about an hour ago and all the water has drained off

Anyone know the current state of the Napoleon/Claiborne area? Gotta head that way this afternoon and would prefer to not flood my car

My guess would be that most places have drained off by now.

At least Napoleon is dry, I don't know about Claiborne.

All demm houses have 1st floor basements...always have, people were not dumb when they built them 100-150 years ago. Just us.

They aren't true basements like you'd think of up north. Most of those NOLA "basements" are either mostly or entirely above grade.
