re: Flood participants- what stage is your house in now?

grandparents house off Antioch got 8 inches of water. My dad, my brother and cousins, and I had it gutted and dried in a week. taped, floated and painted the next week. Installed wood floors and remodeled the master bathroom the 3rd week. Hung cabinets and installed appliances last week.

As shitty as the situation was they came out smelling like a rose, while my ole man and shithead brother now learned how to completely hang, tape, and float, install floors, and remodel showers/bathrooms.

I enjoy this kind of work so it was nothing for me to knock it out in a month. All said their cost was under 15k for materials only.

and she more than likely will not ever be able to get the home insured and if she ever decided to sell it any potential buyers will not be able to finance it or have it insured. But hey,at least she has a place to live now.

It's a very shitty situation the city is taking this long to get people the answer they need. Raise it or no? if they say raise ,people are going to give the homes back to the mortgage companies and the entire area will be section 8 within 10 years.

I own over a doze rental houses in Denham and I'm not touching them until 2017 for tax reasons.

not off of 4H between Florida BLVD & Rushing. Haven't seen one permit over there. Are you sure you're referring to the homes within the 100 year flood zone?

No but not DS but we share the same tax attorney.

We got 4 feet of water and couldn't get to the house for 4 days. So we gutted up to 8 feet.

No flood insurance. Saving as much as we can by doing what we can and I'm acting as my own contractor. Roof is finished. Garage door is replaced. Sheetrock is hung. We have a permit.

My Tape/Float guy is almost done with the whole house. We will start priming and painting this week. OSB is back up in the garage so that basically looks like it did before although it needs to be primed and painted as well. The fence and gate were fixed this weekend. My yard looks halfway normal.

Windows are being replaced this week. Doors should come in next week. Flooring is purchased and install will be scheduled today. Cabinets are purchased and on the way as well. Picked out the granite stone last week. Appliances and furniture is purchased and being held until needed.

Without insurance I was able to get started early and lined up my needs quickly. In a perfect world, we will be back in the house by the end of October. Realistically, we are shooting for the holidays.
