Would love to know which rural areas have no trashy damn people.

Florida panhandle is great. Pass Christian/Bay St. Louis, MS is a good budget option if you still want to be a short drive from NOLA.

Question for you guys over 40 who grew up in the city..... Back in the early 90's when Nola was setting murder records and it seemed like almost every neighborhood was going to crap except for Lakeview/Lakefront area, was the mood this bad about the future?

I was just outta high school and going to Tulane. I was out drinking every weekend at places like Rendon Inn(a terrible neighborhood), Ms Mae's, going to the Quarter driving down Freret St instead of St Charles to get down there b/c it was quicker. Passed by many projects at 2-3am on the way somewhere.

Was regularly wandering the Quarter drunk with my friends, other white kids at 4-5am. And no, we never felt scared or unsafe. Probably b/c we were kids and stupid. I know my parents used to have a fit when I'd tell them we went to Rendon for Drink till You Drown. It was in a shitty neighborhood off of Earhart.

Agreed. Who in their right mind would down vote Franklin, TN.

My guess is people who can't afford to live here. It's very expensive BUT you get what you pay for.

I know. I was responding to the post about a house a block off the water in Bay St. Louis.

We live on MS GC and if a house goes up for sale, it's usually purchased pretty quickly and it's usually someone from NOLA. Why live in that jungle if you only have to go into an office once or twice a week or you can work virtually. Seems to be the theme.

Len Davis. LINK

Don't forget Antoinette Frank killing her partner, then robbing / killing the owners of that Vietnamese restaurant where they worked an off duty detail. That happened around the same time. LINK

OP said a location on the Gulf Coast, presumably when he needs to make a day trip to Nola, and people started suggesting Idaho, Montana, Nashville etc

Just went back to nola for a few days to visit family after not visiting for three years d/t covid- man it looks like a dump and that’s saying a lot because it wasn’t always the best anyway.

Your business is in NOLA? Why not move to the Bay St Louis area? It's close enough to NOLA and other Gulf Coast destinations.

Punta Gorda/Sarasota/ Florida SW coast is fantastic. Close to Tampa but dont have to fight the traffic. County/area is super conservative. Can live on a canal off Charlotte Harbor with your boat in the back and be in the gulf in 15 minutes.
