Really is scary how many crazy people are out there. I guess they've always been there but we just have access to them like never before now.

We now live in a post-factual society. Truth and science no longer matter, only what I think or feel. Facts to the contrary be damned.

Lol. What is hard to understand is how you can view every celestial body in viewing distance around us and clearly see that they are round, yet think earth is flat. Never mind the pics we have of earth.

People can delude themselves into believing anything.

It's evident in politics too.

How does one circumvent a flat earth? By atmosphere or ground travel, How do these people explain this?

I wish they had some non-atheist scientists on the panel because I suspect the vast majority of religious (both scientists and non-scientists), across all global religions, would also think the flat earthers are retarded.

It’s pitiful they view themselves as modern-day Galileo’s and truth martyrs when in reality, they are supreme morons.

Wtf is the motivation to continue the facade that earth is flat?

All other facts about gravity and celestial bodies aside..... what's the end game to make all this up?

You seem to not understand the difference between a sphere as a circle.

When I was a kid in California, my dad used to work on a SR-71 pilot’s Pantera. I remember him talking about how you could easily see the curvature of earth at 80,000 feet.

A dude proved (and measured the circumference) the Earth was round 2,200+ years ago with fuggin sticks and shadows...how is this even a debate?

quote:

Eratosthenes calculated the Earth's circumference without leaving Alexandria.[11] He knew that at local noon on the summer solstice in Syene (modern Aswan, Egypt), the Sun was directly overhead. [12] He then measured the Sun's angle of elevation at noon in Alexandria by using a vertical rod, known as a gnomon, and measuring the length of its shadow on the ground[13]. Using the length of the rod, and the length of the shadow, as the legs of a triangle, he calculated the angle of the Sun's rays.[14] This turned out to be about 7°, or 1/50th the circumference of a circle. Taking the Earth as spherical, and knowing both the distance and direction of Syene, he concluded that the Earth's circumference was fifty times that distance.

I have an old high school buddy that went off the deepend and is a flat earther

I don't think there is a single conspiracy theory that he doesn't believe in

In fact I've run into some I've never heard of just following him on facebook. It's pretty comical.

But if it shows a round earth, it’s CGI, right? I know there are pictures out the cockpit of an SR-71, I’d find some, but you’ll just claim CGI, so what’s the point? Maybe one of these days, they’ll take a large group of idiots to space, so you can all see for yourselves.
