It's a third of a mile. It's the distance for Mike the Tiger's habitat to Audubon Hall.

This guy has no intention of flying in that hunk of junk. It is all publicity. There will be delay after delay, then he will set up a Go Fund me page, claiming that all of the delays has bled his account dry.
I wish he would go, though. Darwin Awards await.

I just wish he would launch the rocket and get it over with already.

Also could climb a mountain. I wonder how flat earthers explain seasons?

quote:Yeah, I think that his grisly death is the only appeal for this. I think we all need to see him die in a fiery crash. At least then he could be a flat earth martyr.
I wish he would go, though. Darwin Awards await.
quote:yes
his journey into the atmosflat will mark the first phase of his ambitious flat-Earth space program.

1800 feet? That has to be a typo, right? Did they mean 18,000 feet?
this is the 2nd article I've seen say 1,800 feet. I'm going to say that it's not a typo.

That was according to his original plan, which had been to launch himself 1,800 feet high last Saturday in his homemade scrap-metal rocket
He could just buy a plane ticket to Chicago and go stand on th Sears Tower Observation deck.

That's all he needs to do.

That fricking thing needs "ACME" painted on the side in big bold letters.

What is their explanation for a ship that heads west and arrives back at the same location? Just wondering.

Or tie a gopro to a damn balloon and get pics from the edge of space.

I hear a lot lately about the flat earth crowd but assumed that it was just a joke. So what is their theory exactly? Are there two sides to the earth or is everything just on one side? Can you dig a hole deep enough that you fall out into space? Do they even believe in space? Are there other planets?

NASA should call this morons bluff and offer to send him to the ISS so he can see for himself.

But he won’t be able to test the rocket before he climbs inside and attempts to steam himself at 500 mph across a mile of desert air. And if it’s a success, he’s promised his backers an even riskier launch within the next year, into the space above the disk. He told Ars Technica last year that the second phase of his mission might involve floating in a balloon up to 20,000 feet above the ground, then rocket-packing himself into space.
