This happens often in BR. Try watching it on Seigen where the people coming out of Target (by the beggars) think they have a 4 way stop with the main road.

Well... uh... this might shock you. But yes. That is exactly how those intersections are designed. Flashing yellow doesn’t stop. Just speeds through. The cross traffic has flashing reds. And they have to stop. Congrats on learning how that type of intersection is designed to play out.
That's not true. If you have a flashing yellow arrow and you are trying to turn you may have traffic coming thru from the opposite direction that has a green light. They have the right of way. SO if you turn without checking/yielding and cause a wreck you are at fault.
It is screwed up. In every other instance with traffic lights when you have a yellow no one else has a green. Only when it is a flashing yellow arrow does the other car have a green. It seems designed to cause wrecks.

This thread isn't about yellow arrows.

beerJeep - Get over yourself. You will always be miserable if you are expecting the people who are driving on the same roads that you are to act and do what "you" think should be done. Driving is not an exact science. A flashing yellow means "CAUTION" and people don't want to get hit by the real dumbass who runs a flashing red. Get some therapy now and you will lead a happier life. For real.

So what is the purpose of putting up a flashing yellow light?
No, not stop, however, you should reduce speed and be aware of any traffic and be prepared to stop if necessary.
If that’s not correct then I stand corrected, but if not what’s the purpose of the flashing yellow?

If the light was put up as a flashing yellow and it isn’t due to power outage or something like that, it’s in place to say “hey, this intersection is slightly more busy, but not busy enough to warrant an actual cycle”
Basically it’s there to let you know that there is a higher percentage chance that someone is going to be pulling out, or crossing over the road you’re on. Doesn’t mean slow down or hit your breaks willy nilly, just be prepared if some a-hole tries to jump the gap
You’ll typically find them at feeder roads to state highways from neighborhoods, plants, etc.

The stopping at flashing yellow doesn’t get me as much as the buffoons who can’t seem to master the order in which one goes at a four way stop/flashing red light. That is freaking sketchy, especially when cars behind the one going decide to go as well.

Quit waiting for ppl to get up close to you then pulling out and driving like a damned turtle.

Yes, and it means that a car stopped at the intersection may pull out.
No, you don’t have to hit your breaks, but you can reduce speed, be more vigilant and be ready to adjust to traffic that may pill out in front if you.
The flashing yellow is there for a reason. That intersection is different or there would just be stop signs for cross traffic.

when u finished teaching them how do go tru a fashing yellow, come on down to new Iberia and try to teach these dummies how to navigate our new traffic circles without stopping and letting everyone thru before they go.
