If the city's leaders had any sense at all, they would clean up Canal and make sure it and the FQ are heavily policed at all times. As important as tourism and conventions are to the city, that should be a no brainer. Maybe I just don't get it though. Smart people like Mitch and Destroya must know what they are doing.
Mitch actually did enact more police presence in 2015. That tax expired last year. I’ll admit it definitely worked because during the time I lived here which was after that went into effect I never had a problem in the quarter really at any time.

The French Quarter and Bourbon St needs to be completely shutdown and become its own district like they did in San Diego with The Gaslamp Quarter. Let it have its own police dept, fire dept, it’s own trash services, emergency services, let it just be completely independent and not rely on any city services.
Attract high end tourist, young people with money, not the trash that it currently attracts.
It’s fricking disgusting that the city council isn’t holding the Mayor accountable for the lack of attention she gives the crime problem

Just having a few cops on that corner to keep people from loitering would be a big help. A lot of these shootings right there are from the groups that post up all night looking to start shite

Can we have a thread every day that a shooting does not take place on Bourbon?

Getting shot is as big of a health risk to blacks in New Orleans as Covid 19. Wonder when Teedy will trot out her quack Medical Director and denounce the actions of the black community instead of the privileged whites.

Which midAtlantic city?
Maybe in North Carolina? Delmarva peninsula?
My personal list of not very safe is much, much longer than safe all hours of the days and nights.

Times are long gone when cops were on every corner on Boubron and would frick you up just for acting like a hood rat. Especially around Iberville and towards Canal, and down past Pat O's.
Make the headline "Five tourists shot two die in French Quarter" and maybe Destroya will do something about it.
Wishful thinking, probably not.

Exactly. What few cops they still put on Bourbon can't do much of anything until after something happens.
I can promise you if a cop roughs up or heaven forbid shoots one of these pieces of shite on Bourbon it will be a much bigger story than five randoms being shot. And Tweedy would jump to the front of the line to be on camera doing her race pimp gig.

They’re going to have no concept of sensing the atmosphere and knowing where not to go and how to avoid trouble here. They’re basically used to going where they want when they want at all hours of the day and night and never even worrying about this kind of stuff.
I’m going to have to watch them like hawks to make sure nobody wanders off of they don’t decide to go out without me and stumble into something awful.
Send them to Bay St. Louis. They will have a good time with nice people and w/o any covid restrictions. Plus they can get some beach time as well

It just blows my mind the media and other leaders don’t call her arse out. I guarantee if this shite keeps and and she doesn’t do or say something Billy Nungessor will go toe to toe with her and JBE.
We can only hope that JBE gets that Vatican ambassador appointment and he leaves BR and Big Billy moves in.

Do they not understand that they don't have to hang out on Bourbon Street every night all night?

None of the victims were believed to have suffered life-threatening wounds, NOLA.com reported.
Remarkable inaccuracy.

And remarkably no mention of the race of the victims or perp from what I could ascertain. So that only leave me to speculation.
