1. Healthy diet, which was calculated and rated based on the reported intake of healthy foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains, healthy fats, and omega-3 fatty acids, and unhealthy foods like red and processed meats, sugar-sweetened beverages, trans fat, and sodium.

2. Healthy physical activity level, which was measured as at least 30 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous activity daily.

3. Healthy body weight, defined as a normal body mass index (BMI), which is between 18.5 and 24.9.

4. Smoking, well, there is no healthy amount of smoking. “Healthy” here meant never having smoked.

5. Moderate alcohol intake, which was measured as between 5 and 15 grams per day for women, and 5 to 30 grams per day for men. Generally, one drink contains about 14 grams of pure alcohol. That’s 12 ounces of regular beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits.

Key takeaways-
Healthy physical activity being just 30/minutes a day

Sounds like some metric system communist gobbledygook. I ignored the rest of the suggestions when I saw that.

I would add to wear your seatbelt when you are in a car and don't speak ill of anyone in the Clinton Klan.

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day is also mission critical. As is 6-8 hours of sleep.

It’s all about moderation and genetics.

Never quite understood the smoking thing. I have zero doubt that smoking a pack or more a day is going to lead you to the grave earlier but what about the person who socially smokes a cigarette every now and then or takes over a month to finish a pack?

I feel like the smoking studies are so black and white that they never take into account the seldom social smoking.

Same with alcohol. 2 bottles of wine a night ain’t good but what about 2 glasses a night?

I'll skip the 2 beers per day and just have all 14 on Saturdays. And if my wife complains I'll tell her it's healthy.

It’s easy to live to 100 if you give up all the things that makes you want to live to 100.
