Don't go to the Rub N Tug under the elevated part of 35 by a Comfort Inn. It's overpriced and impossible to get off because the rooms have huge mirrors that they admit have dudes monitoring the rooms on the other side for their safety.

Austin ain’t what it used to be.
Was there several weeks ago and nothing but Beto signs all over town.

All shitholes I've had to spend too much time in, and would be happy to never see again.

So we had a thread today on Atlanta, and now one on Austin. All we need is one about Nashville, and we will have the trifecta of the three most overrated cities.
I would love to know where y’all live

NOLA should be at the top of this list.

Stage fright?
That's a pretty shitty job too btw. Having to watch random dudes get jacked off by illegals all day

You mean the city that has inspired the works of Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote, William Faulkner. Louis Armstrong, Mahalia Jackson, Anne Rice, Emeril Lagasse, John Kennedy Toole, Sydney Bechet, King Oliver, Wynton and Bradford Marsalis, Louis Prima, Paul Prudhomme, The Neville Brothers, The Dixie Cups, Fats Domino, Dr John, Jelly Roll Martin, Harry Connick Jr., Proffesor Longhair, Buddy Bolden to name a few, and not to mention, THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE ONLY DEFINITIVE AMERICAN ART FORM.
That's why it's hosted 10 Super Bowls and 5 Final fours...because it's overrated.

Some of you have low expectations coming from Louisiana

Travis County is where tourists should stay. Wilco is for families and seeing huge population growth

Beto won Williamson County.
When I went to UT, Austin had yet to reach elbow-to-a-hole status. You could prowl the streets on a weeknight without being constantly tailgated, and could get a table at Kerbey Lane Cafe on South Lamar with minimal wait. You could go to Mt. Bonnell and be alone (and that was before the 10 p.m. curfew). The Capitol was open to the public 24 hours a day.
Long gone.

I’m sure the New Orleans people would be miserable, but I guess it is decent for someone from more rural Louisiana.

New Orleans is garbage.
It has good food.
That's it.

Ahhhh yes, the Good Ol' Days. But Austin wasn't that great back then unless you knew where to go. The first few times I went in the late 70's and early 80's I didn't get the hype either. But then someone that lived there showed me where to go and it totally changed my opinion. Its no different today. If you stay in downtown and on South Congress with all the other tourists then it's a pretty mundane city. But you also have to be adventurous and want to see live music and hang in places with people that are different from you. If you don't then you probably should stay in your hotel room.

Austin used to be cool and unique. Now everything is commercial and generic.
It seems like every other month an Austin institution or local business closes.
