Sat next to a big country boy once on the way back from Houston to New Orleans. Like, 6'6" 320 of not fat. He apologized by buying me and himself double whiskeys. Actually, he was kind enough to give the flight attendant a heads up before we pushed back since it's a quick fight.

I love watching the faces of people watching intently as a fattie boards the planes secretly saying to themselves, "Lawd please not here, don't let them be next to me..."

Yep! He had to get one of those too. Will upload photos shortly. He was probably 375-400 and 6’3ish.

An airline once tried to put someone who needed 2 seats next to my petite SO.
Chubby sat and immediately spilled over onto her and her seat. There was no option for anyone to move. She discretely took some pics of the problem.
SO went to the steward and told them the issue. They told her there was nothing that they could do about it.
SO flat out told them that nobody has a right to touch her without her consent and she was now informing them that this man was repeatedly touching her without her consent and that was assault.
They exchanged her seat with a volunteer and both she and the volunteer were given ample compensation.

Once I was in the middle next to a guy who could have been Michael Duncan's stunt double.
Us being on the same side of the plane made me worry about the load balance a little.

At a minimum, you have to get the mid-tier seats (comfort plus on Delta). That'll keep you away from most fat asses. You also need to get that first row behind first class. The aisle has more room than the window

I caught the last southwest flight out of hobby one night. Priority boarding and I’m sitting pretty. Last guy on the plane is a big old boy(not fat) like me. Broad shoulders. We silently agreed to take turns leaning forward. Worked fine.
