The brutally honest answer is that several private entrepreneurs invested in the city, and then we gentrified the shite out of it because we liked what they were doing.

Lived in Birmingham for a couple years. If you’re still there, grab some sushi at Surin West. Some of the best sushi I’ve ever eaten.

I spend a lot of time in the Inverness area, thinking about a buying a condo there.

It really was kind of a strange deal. How do you get the most scared people in the world out of their suburban cocoons and back into the city? The downtown Barons stadium and Good People brewing really got the ball rolling, and then people realized the world outside of their golf course community really ain't that bad.

Too each their own I guess. Easily one of the worst suburban areas in the Birmingham metro. Awful traffic, absolutely nothing outside of corporate chains, strip malls, and prison-style corporate offices.
