Well Alec was the one who pulled the trigger.

It's a movie set so not the same as a normal person with a gun. The closest analogy would be blanks in a military setting as the purpose is to point the gun at people and pull trigger.
That makes more sense to me when it's put like that. Thanks for taking the time to break it down and sharing your knowledge.

This is opinion.

Keanu Reeves apparently just made the 4th John Wick movie in which his character has shot approximately 1,483 people. How many people was AB's character supposed to shoot in "Rust"?

Crazy that Keanu was able to rehearse all of his scenes without pulling the trigger at an unsuspecting cinematographer and assistant director. I don't know the ins and outs of Hollywood firearm rehearsal logistics any better than any of the other posters in this thread, but I would hope the facts will come out in the trial.

ETA: I would be very interested to know how many times Keanu has pointed a "cold" weapon at crew member and pulled the trigger during an impromptu/unscripted/unplanned "rehearsal"? IMO that's where this trial will be decided.

I’ve asked this multiple times. If it’s been answered, I missed it.

Why was the gun loaded?

Why do you have an opinion one way or the other if you "know nothing" about the applicable law?

This makes no sense. Anyone can have a valid opinion as to right and wrong without knowing anything about a specific law or law in general. There are thousands of posts on tOT about ones opinion as to what should happen to someone as a result of something they did without knowing the first thing about the laws of the particular jurisdiction. The problem is when someone tries to apply law when they know nothing about the applicable law.

Landis should burn in Hell for that.

He overdid it with the pyro, causing the blades of the helicopter to delaminate and crash, resulting in the deaths of Morrow and the two kids.

I would have a modicum of sympathy for him if they hasn’t done a test blast before that and he insisted it be even bigger in the real shot.

Could you elaborate on this some?

From someone like myself who knows nothing about gun laws on movie sets, it seems like bullshite.

It’s stunning, but some people get 100% of their gun “knowledge” from tv and movies, yet offer their uninformed opinions as fact.

Here is a fact: If anyone reading this thread pointed a gun at someone, fired it and killed that person, they would be convicted of a felony and likely have to serve jail time.

-even if they were “told it was not loaded”
-even if they were filming some backyard movie or skit for YouTube

If you don’t want to take the time to educate yourself about a real weapon, and the safe handling of a real weapon, you should not lay your hands on one.

That is the protocol.in every day life. On set, established protocol is different and that plays into this. To put it another way, it is like applying louisiana firearm laws to another state.

In The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan flipped a semi truck on a Chicago street.

If you or I did that we would be in jail.

Aren’t they doing more than was done in the Brandon Lee incident?
