Would it not make more sense to at least wait until they are done losing their baby teeth and their permanent teeth come in?

No

They are not doing braces. The appliance is to help bone growth while they’re young to prevent having to wear a head gear later or jaw surgery later on when it is finally time for actual braces.

Around age 7 is when we look for potential extreme case and to intervene early (like palatal expansion with an appliance) to prevent major treatment complications around age 11-13 (typical braces age).

They’re not concerned with teeth at all yet. Gotta get the maxilla and mandible lined up or teeth will never have a chance. Most kids don’t need an appliance at age 9 but some do. And you’ll be glad they aren’t wearing head gears or having surgery later.

Timeout. Braces for baby teeth? They are just gonna fall out anyway.

I clearly don’t have good Ortho insurance.

bout $9k out of pocket is expected for braces.

But I do appreciate the fact that that is the all in cost, including 10 years of retainers after braces ($20 deductible), so barring some catastrophe, that’s the last money I’ll have to spend on daughter’s teeth.

I've seen some tragic results from SDC. If a dentist or orthodontist operated the way SDC did, they would lose their license.

As a dentist, I could understand how you'd be a little against the whole thing. But for real here - I'm on my last aligner and it's been a good experience. No issues whatsoever + straight teeth.

At the end of the week, my 6 month retainer comes in that I just have to wear at night. And they mail you a new one every 6 months.

It was easy peezy. I'd do it all again.

shite I have braces now. Dental insurances covered 2k but it still cost me 8k out of pocket. Had corrective jaw surgery too which was another 110k billed to my insurance provider. My grill is looking right though for the amount of money that’s been spent on it.

One of my boy's front teeth is fricked up looking. However, I am not putting braces on him until all of baby teeth are gone.

After having to get braces in my 20s for an impacted canine tooth that was in the middle of my palate, I am convinced that Orthos almost don’t get paid enough.

For those unaware, dental insurance typically stops covering things like braces once you turn 18. The only provider I’ve found that offers any adult braces coverage is Delta Dental. I think I had a lifetime coverage amount of 2 to 2.5k. Dental insurance has not progressed the last 30 or 40 years the way medical insurance has
