Exactly. That's the way I see it at first. A commuter thing that's almost just like the commuter trains you see now, but it makes the world so much smaller.
Someone could live in Houston but work in Dallas, etc.
In the long run, it could become more of a shipping thing or a long haul network, as the world gets more and more connected.

All I know is we need a Lafayette - Baton Rouge - New Orleans HyperLoop.
And if we had that, I'd consider moving back to Baton Rouge.

FYI, a lot of people do think the early days of Hyperloop will be for shipping cargo, but Virgin Hyperloop One has ALREADY built an app for their hyperloop system (that doesn't exist) that would allow a customer to book seats, make purchases, and schedule Ubers or Lyfts too and from the departures and destinations.
The example they use in the app is LA to Las Vegas.

What routes would be better than Chicago - Cleveland?
1. Las Vegas - Los Angeles
2. Los Angeles - Phoenix
3. Atlanta - Charlotte
4. Dallas - Austin
Of course, the ultimate would be DC to NYC...but there would be too much congestion to build it.

Yeah, those same cats are behind solar roadways and numerous failed projects for creating drinking water out of thin air. If you can't even fathom the power required to pump down hundreds of miles of tubing to the very low vacuum levels required to make these fantasy projects feasible, then add the maintenance and the safety systems on top of that then you are exactly the type of gullible poorly STEM educated individual these projects attract the adoration of. Go look up videos on the catastrophic failures of vessles suject to vacuum conditions. Go look up the engineering used to protect astronauts from the vacuum of space. We can't pump oil in vastly simpler pipelines without accidents yet we are going to shoot masses people along hundreds of miles of vacuum tube in pressurized vessles at hundreds of mph...
