BATON ROUGE - The St. George Fire Department is responding to a fire at LSU FETI, a university-operated facility dedicated to training firefighters. According to the fire department, crews were called to the Carrol L. Herring Fire and Emergency Training Institute in the 6000 block of Nicholson Drive around 7:50 Tuesday night. There is currently no word on the severity of the fire or any possible injuries. The training center is situated on 80 acres of land south of the main LSU campus. The curriculum at the facility ranges from basic fire-fighting skills to advanced technical training in rescue and hazardous materials and fire officer training.

why bring in outsiders?

best way to learn is under fire.
(pardon the pun)

I’ve been to Texas A&M for firefighter training.

These facilities have very experienced instructors and all the equipment and water/foam supply they would ever need.

I have no idea why they would need to call for outside help, unless someone was injured.

The LSU one seems to be one of the best, I dunno why.

Last wed I was eating lunch at Ziggys and they had FF from Iowa and Nebraska .... on break from training

Would this qualify as ironic?

Probably because Tuesday at 7:50PM there is no one there.

They were probably called because no one was onsite. It's not a manned location, just a school.

we’ve built one of these buildings before, they are incredibly designed.
something either failed or somebody fricked up and didn’t follow the plan

LSU cannot hold a candle to what Texas A&M has over there.

I assume there’s some sort of administration building that’s just as prone to catching fire as any normal building. And that since it happened at night, no one was on site. Not really ironic considering these two things.

I assume it's probably where they store their combustible/flammable materials that caught fire.

I understand irony. It's like needing money for food, and then finding a $20 bill on the ground.
