Sam Elliot, the heavy equipment mechanic, stares out at the audience and states solemnly..."Looks like ol' Birdseed and BobbyJoe done fricked up now."

How do all OTers have such high IQs and ACTs but know plant work intimately?

"There will be 32 modules and 32 sub-modules..." So damn accurate. And the fuel truck driver cracked me up as well...

There are a few career paths that I question how somebody could get into: urology, gastroenterology, and fricking safety. At least you make money as a doctor.

To be fair, lot's of folks work at plants and businesses that support plants that aren't wrench turners. It's pretty easy to get a feel for what goes on in the field.

I've got 4 hours of fall training safety over at the Honeywell tomorrow.

True story. FOUR HOURS

So I take this is common? I don't work in a plant but what I do has me work for plants and utilities. I had to take required safety training for a major project I'm working on and that was spot on.

We have to do gobs of computer based training throughout the year. It’s OSHA and DEQ regulated. It also covers the plant’s arse in a lawsuit so I couldn’t claim that I wasn’t trained properly.

I know how much safety guys make. And while it’s a nice salary, it’s not nearly as much as a specialist doctor. To each his own, but I couldn’t do that job, even pulling in that salary.

I worked in plants during the summers and part time while in college. It paid a hell of a lot more than most other student jobs.

My dad got me all of those jobs btw. I'm sure it's not all that common of a student job.
