Anyone done it? Just got one for 80 in a 75. Wife's car shows what cruise control was set on when I hit my brakes. Shows 76 mph. Cop shows me her radar gun and it says 80. I know she's full of shite. Maybe she clocked the truck that was directly in front of me that had just passed me. Anyway, I ask her to see her calibration records on the radar and she told me they don't calibrate them. I asked her again "you never calibrate your radar?" And she again said no. She then said I would be provided records in court.

Anyone ever taken these frickers to court? It would be cheaper just to pay the damn thing, but I'm considering going to court.

Yeah, it's a known speedtrap there, my GF lives in the area. She says they do this shite a lot.

The police chief there got in trouble a year or two back for shenanigans with the tickets, but I don't know if that's gonna help you any.

Technically they can still get you for speeding. Just pay the ticket or go to driving school to keep it off your record.

I would laugh my arse off as a judge if someone came to court with evidence that they were speeding to contest their ticket.

Isn't from 1-10 MPH over the same price? If so, I'm not really sure the point in fighting it with your evidence unless it's just a matter of integrity that you get penalized for the correct offense.

Point is that the radar gun was inaccurate and speedometers read a little faster then you're actually going. The fact that the officer denied EVER calibrating her equipment and basically admitting she had no idea how to do so makes me doubt her even being qualified to use one. At the least it says she has never calibrated her equipment. Calibration is required before and after every shift, from what I understand.

They are supposed to send all monies collected to the state if you were going within 10 miles an hour of the posted speed limit. Subtly mention that you will follow up with the state to see if they receive your money.

Doesn't do them any good to collect the states money, so they might offer a seat belt violation instead

I live in the area and it really looked like they were hooking them today. Went by twice and both times had pull overs.

I wish I could over helpful advice on fighting the ticket.

I do know it's their MAJOR source of revenue for the town.

Good luck with that shite. I'm sure they'll fight equally hard to get their money. That speedtrap at the bridge seems to be their only source of income.

lesson learned. Don't take a chance through there. Even if you were going 76, they'll get you on it. I bump my cc down to around 73 when I go through that crooked shithole.

Washington switched to a Home Rule Charter system of government. They are exempt from this law.

Right.

So THAT's your angle.

Arguing that you didn't deserve a speeding ticket because you are bringing evidence that while you were speeding, it wasn't as bad as the officer cited, isn't going to get you anywhere.

Some new bills have been filed this year to address this.
