Field days were honestly some of the greatest days of my life as a kid. Just knowing it was the last day of school, summer was here.

My son was feeling too generous this year.

He's afraid if wins events like the long jump they'll make him do that in the annual regional track meet. He just wants to run, so he won the 75 and 200.

It's just a fun day, outdoor with all of the classes participating in different outdoors activities and competitions. It varies by school. Ours were always great. The teachers dressed comfortably and we staked out a shady spot or had fans.

One school had a baseball (or kick ball) tournament where the classes played against each other, teachers played, parents, whoever. It was just fun. No one was forced to play. Quiet kids could just find a comfy shady spot and watch the fun or just enjoy being outside.

Another school had lots of different events like track, throwing, shooting hoops, whatever.

They serve a shite-ton of drinks, snacks, popsicles and food. Many parents are present . Kids were fairly well behaved because no one wants to be sent to the punishment room (having spent weeks before telling the kids about the horrors of the punishment room where they will miss out on all the fun).

I grew up in NY so the temps in May were perfect for all day festivities outside. All events took place outside in the school's "field"

2nd through 5th grades we would spend one of the last days of the school year outside playing games, acting out music videos, painting posters, and competing in field events like I listed earlier.

The lunch staff would roll out a big grill and cook hamburgers while teachers would take shifts working different events.

Each grade would have their own different colored T-shirt with each class roll on the back.

For fricks sake we’re bitching about field day now? It’s been 25 years since I had a field day and still remember them as some of my favorite days as a kid.

Lol. My wife actually loves her job and loves to teach. Field day isn’t teaching though. It’s babysitting.

Sounds like a good day for her to sneak back into the classroom with her favorite student and have her own "field day"

Do they still have target shooting at field day? We got to pop plastic cups with a daisy B.B. gun back in my day.

I'm sure that the sprint competition is stiff at "Holy Trinity School".
