When my wife goes into unhappy mode, I've learned to go to another room, work outside, or run an errand. She hates it when she can't share her misery. Usually after about an hour she snaps out of it. That's when I fix her something to eat or take her out to eat.

Bingo. They have to share it, pass it on to someone else. There's no suffering in silence with them. It's all out there. And they have to repeat the gripe multiple times. Mull it over again and again and again.
Good call on removing yourself from the misery trap. And also smart to feed her when she calms down. Most of our fights are late in the evening when she's tired and or hungry.

When your wife gets all pouty and whiney, just withhold sex from her until she straightens out.

That was the best part. She wanted to look too smart but even after they were all laughing at her she was too stupid to understand why

First post I've ever bookmarked here. Now, how do I actually go back to reference this when I need it?

On a browser, top left of the page there's a "Bookmarks" link.
On an iPhone, scroll down to the very bottom and you should see Bookmarks under My Links
