I am 65 my kids are well educated, successful, grown, and gone, they never caused a moments trouble while growing up. Having said that if I got the chance to live my life over i would not have kids. As far as being alone in your old age, the most common complaint among the elderly people i know is that their kids have no time for them.

I hear ya. To play devil's advocate. You say that someone aged 29 cannot "have it figured out" as far as deciding no kids.. But it is totally acceptable for someone aged 29 to decide TO bring another human life onto the planet?

How exactly does that work? You can make one lifelong important decision that has no take-backs at age 29, but you cannot make the reverse decision at the same age..?

FWIW - I think 29 is a totally appropriate age to have kids and I also think it is a totally appropriate age to decide they're not for you.

I don't understand this arbitrary line in the sand as far as ages to make decisions, but only certain decisions that happen to go against someone's personal opinion.

P.P.S. People change their minds late in life on all kinds of decisions. Marriage, kids, where they want to live, what they want to do as a career, etc. It isn't a "gotcha!" that some people who do not want kids at age 29 might want them at age 35. Just like it isn't inevitable someone who doesn't want kids at age 29 will want them at age 35.

Just the whole pack the car, strap the kid in, unpack the car, kick open the stroller and fail 3x before it opens, place kid who doesn't want to be in stroller into it, he screams bloody murder, go into place of business and he wants to walk on his own, walking on his own means possibly breaking things or running into strangers.. and then you have to do it all over again just to get home.

I bet you have some epic vague Facebook posts

I don't care about other people's decisions that don't affect me whatsoever. My only issue with the argument is one side has no clue what it's like on the other side yet they generally have a rigid stance and make comments as if the folks with kids are walking around leading some insanely miserable lives. Again, not directed at you but there are some silly comments in this thread.

It would be like having a group of men sit around and talk about what it's like to have a period. It's something they have no idea about so it's probably best if they just sit that one out.

And not only that, feel that their lives are better than yours

Having kids lessens the sting of property taxes a little bit.

People that have kids think people that don’t have kids are dumb and vice versa.

Lots of folks with kids getting offended and can’t understand that someone doesn’t want a rugrat to take care of

You are young. You likely won't feel the same about a lot of things at 35 the same way that you do now.

I mean I agree.

The post was simply stating the fact that I am enjoying not having responsibilities and currently being kid free. At some point I want to reproduce so I can caddy for my son on the PGA Tour

Basically people that have kids know what it’s like to be on both sides. The same can’t be said about the narcissistic fricks in this thread that think their lives are somehow better for it

I'm happy for the children you never had. They deserve a parent not an individual with a selfish childlike personality.
