Feats of Strength at Mall of LA

My family and I ventured to the Mall of Louisiana for the first time in months, just a few days before Christmas. The mall was much busier than I imagined it would be and looked to be thriving despite online shopping and the threat of COVID.
One thing that really stood-out was a kiosk complete with a pull-up bar set roughly 7' off the floor. A sign announced that anyone who could hang from the bar for two-minutes would win $100. It cost ten-bucks to play. Has anyone here seen this? Do you think you could pull it off? I intended to try it at home and return to the mall to give it a shot if successful, but best laid plans, and such...

I would think I could but that challenge is there for a reason. Probably way harder than I think.

You need to be in shape. I tried this at the James Bond exhibit at Spu Museum in DC. Two minutes is a long time to hold up your body weight

I guess it makes it easier for them to take your purse

Most people don’t realize how long 2 mins is when you’re doing something like that

Aint no food court fattys finda be holding themselves up on the pull up bar for 2 minutes.

If it's a normal bar, you should be able to do it. But a lot of times, the bar isn't constrained on either end allowing it to rotate which makes it 10x harder.

My wife joked that the bar was likely greased.

The bar spins, that’s the catch

How long can average person hang from a bar?
If you are at an advanced level, then you should be able to hang on your pull-up bar for at least 45 seconds or more. However, as you advance in your fitness journey and improve your grip strength and skills, you would be able to hang from your pull-up bar for as long as 2 minutes or more.
BTW, the bar rotates.... Hanging Bar Challenge on Hollywood Blvd.

My brother does CrossFit. He could do four minutes easily.

The bar is not fixed in place; the contraption is designed to allow the bar to spin so any shift of weight and the bar spins, usually towards you. Holding on to a legit bar for two minutes would be hard enough but the spinning makes it impossible. It’s as rigged as a carny game and you will not win.

little reverse grip would go a long way.

good to see that the premiere mall of the state has carnival kiosks now. i'm sure SWB will have a neo-solution for this old world issue.

If they allow it, I'd give it the alternating hands grip like when doing deadlifts.

I tried - rocked a giant fart - fell off - the strain was more than I could bear.

Watched video, I cannot do that. Thought it was crazy how the guy said the people who win the most are the homeless people. “They just won’t let go”
