People do not want to believe it but they are going to shut it all down again. Everything is lining up for it to happen again. Call me a conspiracy nut but all signs point to it getting shut down again. All the news talks about is this now just like last year.

They can try and shut it down again but its not going to happen again.People are fed up with the stupidity.

Who the hell still equates it with the flu?

Well the CFR is similar and now we have a vaccine for both though the covid vaccine is actually more effective

Main problem with covid is that the few that do get really sick stay in hospital forever.

With flu hospitalizations you usually live or die pretty quick one way or the other

We should be worried about deaths, and critical care cases. I understand that these will lag but still..

I got vaccinated. IDGAF. If people don't want the vaccine and want to risk catching it then god bless em. It shouldn't be anyone's concern. Well.. unless the virus can evolve into something stronger that my vaccine will not protect against. In that case, frick all you idiots who don't get the vaccine because "although it is working (what is it? 94% of the time it will work? So yes I understand there have been some people who haven't been protected, I don't need an example of someone who still got it even though they had the vaccine, that will happen from time to timt)and the FDA gave it emergency approval, I still think something will happen to me if I take it".

Or those of you who think "the government wants us all to take it and thats because they are putting a microchip in us so they can monitor us".. Well jackass, they don't have to put a microchip in you as long as you have a cellphone.

So if the whole situation where it can evolve into something stronger that the current vaccine will not defend against, then go take the god damn vaccine.

And if you don't take the vaccine and you get Covid, don't go to the hospital. You made the decision not to take it, don't both other people because of your decisions

Does it get old being a bumbling idiot?

Either this isnt a variant, or they created a virus that is unnatural

Or china released a new virus

What happened to the "original" variant? Is that gone? How about the other supposed variants?

I think this does lean to more "gain of function" tinkering that has caused this.

The surge in hospitalizations is significant in LDH's three regions that include southeast Louisiana. In Region 3, which includes Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. James, Assumption and St. Mary parishes, hospitalizations have nearly quadrupled since July 1 - from 11 to 43 patients hospitalized.

Has Region 3 had a big Covid wave yet? It seems like every area has to have 1 then it doesn’t have another. The spikes aren’t from the same areas having more cases. The spikes are caused by a new area having an increase in cases.

For example New Orleans was the cause of the spike in March 2020 and they’ve been on a downward trend ever since. Then EBR had a spike during the summer 2020 spike. North and SW LA had a spike in the winter 2020 spike.

USA wide the March 2020 spike was from New York. The summer 2020 spike was from the Sun Belt. And the winter 2020 spike was from the Midwest.

What ever will they do!?!?

So 7 parishes have 43 people hospitalized? That’s like 6 per parish.

Just like the so called media from 2016 to 2020, my source is anonymous, but it is from a smaller hospital outside of Baton Rouge.

Today’s numbers from Asher

Louisiana reported 1,100 additional cases today with 6.7% of tests positive (molecular tests only).

Hospitalizations are up by 36 to 504. That's +43.6% week on week.

I think it settles around 1,000 in the hospital before going back down.

Not an educated guess, just simply predicting that based on nothing really.

Our local talk radio, KPEL, yesterday was reporting the noon news ... I heard them announce that due to rising cases, JBE may reduce gathering capacity for sports events/festivals .. no mention of restaurants, stores, masks, etc.

Not as old as last spring/summer though
But only because of the decrease in the elderly because they either A: are vaccinated , or B: already died of covid

For a simple example:

2020

30 people 80 years old

10 people 60

5 people 40

Average age of 71 in hospital

Now in 2021

5 people 80 in hospital

6 people 60

3 people 40

average age 62

So, in reality there is less younger people in the hospital than 2020, but the media runs the tagline "AVERAGE AGE OF HOSPITALIZATIONS YOUNGER WITH CURRENT COVID STRAIN"

Its disingenuous
