These insane people crave recognition and "fame". With our societies fixation on instant news and social media they are finding more ways to get it. These people were armed with cameras. They wanted to show what they did. Wanting to "go public" is now part of the crime, unlike the serial killer who self gratifies by remaining in the shadows.
This.

But, as for violent crime as a whole? It is at historical lows in the U.S.
You stop it with that common sense RIGHT NOW MISTER!
This is the OT where people will hyperbolize and run about screaming with their hands in the air until the next news cycle.
Quit ruining the fun.

But hey, continue to believe that mass shootings are on the decline. Freedom of speech, right?
He just called out your sources as wrong (or at least inconsistent) using those same sources. Damn, you dumb.

Mass shootings may be up, but that is probably a coincidence of the instant media and 24 hour news cycle. Add to it, this particular couple was almost certainly motivated/inspired by Jihad.
That and the fact the "studies" supporting it are a joke.

I won't interject into this debate but why would it be such a leap to think that mass shootings are on the rise?
You need to ask the people in here that are claiming that they are on the decline.
quote:
The more important question is the "why" these people commit these acts and how can we ferret them out of our society before they take action. While maintaining our liberty.
Well, according to some, we are ferreting them out of society. That's why mass shootings are on the decline. It's just the media trying to convince us. And staging these.
quote:
Trying to regulate the means (guns, bombs, cars, etc.) they use to commit these acts is really the low hanging fruit.
Completely agree.
Maybe I'm being misunderstood. I am a gun owner and am completely against any additional gun control measures. When these shootings happen, I wish every victim had a gun to defend themselves. Screw any additional regulation, it will fail and only hurt the victims.
But, these people that are stating that the mass shootings are on the decline currently are absolutely, batshit crazy.

You know, you can be against gun control, and still acknowledge the fact that mass shootings are on the rise, right?
Damn you're mad... you gonna post count boom me next?

Do you need a background check for a bullet proof vest?
Seems buying body armor would/should put you on radar?
Just heard CNN talking head ask "who buys bullet proof vests? Your average gun buyer or gun shooter (sportsman) does not buy bullet proof vests?"

That's from your post. If you don't want it to be germane, don't quote it.
That was in response to the original guy that said from 1970's until 2015, the mass shootings have declined! Jesus.
You're arguing that because from 1976-1979, there was no rise, it means that over the last 4 decades it hasn't risen?
Am I on crazy pills?

Never mind. I didn't know how stupid you were.
So do you believe that mass shootings are rising, or on decline? Simple question.

Obama minutes after the shooting - gun control!!!
Obama today - may be terrorism
Ok lets not try to politicize a tragedy, oh wait, too late.

You could just cut a piece of steel and sew a pocket for it in a jacket and voila you have a "bulletproof" vest.

Obama said we were safe from ISIS.
LOL does anyone believe this a-hole anymore?

I think so.
Compare these two and tell us what the problem is.
quote:
FBI statistics
Victims of Mass Shootings:
1976 >80
1977 >70
1978 >50
1979 >100
quote:
You quoted the report listing incorrect (or misleading) data from the 70s for the comparison.
quote:
The report, sent to members of Congress on Friday, found that in the 1970s, mass public shootings killed roughly six people a year and injured two.

Was anything said about why the explosive they planted did not go off? Malfunction? They forget? Seems unlikely as they did everything else so well. Get chased out of range of their device?

I agree with this statement.
I don't really care what stats represent whether they are on the rise or not.
I think that there are more ways for people to show what they did with instant news and social media and that's exactly what these crazies want.
I think it's going to be a continued problem as the attention is what the shooters crave.

i like the new term CNN coined "hybrid"
as in 'this is a disgruntled worker loner (and his wife) acting as part of a possible (they love them some crawfish terms) new trend with multiple shooters.
lol @ 'lone wolf' showing up with bombs, body armor, weapons, and a wife waiting to go back in with him to the christmas party.
no no, this simply cant be terrorism.
