Maine is king.

New Hampshire is a close second, Maine beats it by having a coast.

But if I had to live in one it would be New Hampshire, simply because the tax laws are far more favorable.

Colorado during the summertime. Skiing is fun, but it's absolutely beautiful when it's not snowy.

Colorado in the fall when the aspens turn is beautiful.

I find this highly offensive. I have tough skin but not everyone is allowed to joke about my child.

Hes actually just well traveled.

North Carolina as a teenager on a church trip, coming from SE Louisiana it was like a different world. I’ve been all over the the Southeast but I’ve still never been west of Texas, hopefully one day that will change and I’m pretty sure my answer would change.

On the Internet everyone is, in fact, allowed to joke about your child.

South Dakota, except for how they thought us Southerners were racists and I saw how they treated Sioux.

North Central Kansas - the quail of my youth and then some.

but the winner... and it's not close Texas Hill country.

Evidently conservatives are moving to the Teton Valley to ride out the pending civil war, or something like that

quote:

Your housing costs are high because conservative refugees are looking to ride out the end of civilization. Sound far-fetched? Vanity Fair is a magazine I rarely read. The name oozes some fellow sipping tea with a pinky finger extended. Or he’s sipping wine while wearing an ascot and evening coat.

Somehow, a story from the magazine ended up in my news feed. It’s about wealthy conservatives migrating to Wyoming’s Teton Valley and the story references neighboring Idaho and Montana. The author references plans by Ketchum to house service workers in tents in a community park. It’s not quite the Gilded Age, but it does show you there’s a clash of sub-civilizations. The newcomers don’t want to be living in big eastern or west coast cities when the government collapses, and many believe that will happen soon.
