Gee & L'ils on Hayne in the East. They were doing the french fry po-boy before there was a french fry po-boy. French fries, beef gravy with chunks of beef on french bread thick with mayo.....but it was healthy.
Fried seafood was really good as well

French Fry poor boy, po-boy, is the ORIGINAL iteration of the iconic sandwich. It's what gave the entire thing its name. Place called Clarence and Lefty's on St. Claude, I believe in the 1920s.
Didn't Gee & Lil's do the original seafood "loaf" where they'd take a whole loaf of fresh white bread, cut out most of the inside, and stuff fried seafood in there?

I went to Shoney's many years ago. My GF wanted the seafood buffet and I was like "have at it if you want to get sick." She went on about something that tasted great and put a piece on my plate to taste. The waiter flys over and starts going on that I didn't pay for the buffet and I can't eat anything off the buffet. So every time when I see this gif I think of that time.

Actually, I believe that was Rita's Lakeview down the street. Yeah those things were too much. My uncle would kill them and the guy was skinny as a rail....still is

My dad used to take us to Fitzgeralds on Lake P.
Being from BR that was one of the few reasons I'd even get in the car to make the trip.

You are correct. Lots of carbs, but it was so good.

Shakey's FTW in Montgomery. No ID checks and the pizza seemed great (might've been influenced by the beer consumption).

I think there is still a Shoney's in Clinton
Don't know. I rarely make it over there these days.

Are there no more Western Sizzlin' in Jxn?
No. There may be one in Pearl, but kinda doubt it's still there.

Where was Gatti's?
It was off the I-55 N frontage road. Old Square Rd. I wanna say.

Went to Dennery's maybe twice -- remember LeFleur's?
A restaurant? I never went there.

Is Crechale's still open?
Yes. It's like a time capsule of 1950s/60s Jackson. Great place.

Remember The Green Derby? I think we went there perhaps three times, on very important occasions, like relatives visiting from Atlanta
I sure as hell do. I used to eat breakfast there when I was a kid, with my grandparents.
Jackson's best kept secret has always been it's restaurants. Greek immigrants started it all.

Morrison's Café in Savannah. My Grandfather used to take me there all the time. Their trout almandine was out of this world.
