Truth regarding the Civil War.
So much has been misconstrued. THAT has lead to levels of racism that never should have been reached.

Ancient history. I find discussions about the great flood, migration, early civilization really interesting. It’s probably because we don’t know anything really, so you hear a bunch of theories. Which is probably the same reason I love the tv show ancient aliens

Have you listened to Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History: King of Kings?

We actually know quite a lot, because they wrote about it. And in writing about it, it enabled later historians (think classical) to be able to write about it.

Those that write are remembered when those that speak are rotten and forgotten.

Probably mankind’s most important invention

One thing that fascinates about the study of history is that the farther away one gets from events, the more objective we can be about them.

It’s less about good guys and bad guys and more about the story, as it should be. Dan Carlin in Wrath of the Khans sets it up, bravely.

Ancient Mediterranean/Mesopotamian history. Stone age through the fall Rome has been my favorite.

But lately it’s been topics I haven’t known much about.

I’ve always been interested in the war of 1812 and the border dispute between Spain/Texas and France/US in the late 1700’s early 1800’s

I wish there was an actual history channel that covered a variety of other history other than WWII and the damn Nazis. AHC has pretty much worn me out. I love history, but I’d really love an actual adult version of a history channel than would actually teach me things I wasn't already very familiar with, kind of like the old history channel used to do before it became a running joke.

Ahh for the days when music videos were on a music video channel and history was on an a history channel.

In order of level of interest:

World War II
Civil War
Space flight
World War I
Cold War (including Korean and Vietnam Wars)
American Revolution
20th Century history in general
Australian history

I can become interested in any kind of history if presented to me in a nice fashion. For example, I don’t have a huge interest in medieval Europe, but show me an interesting artifact in a museum from the era and I’ll take the time to go read about the subject in question to learn more.
