No surprise the OT is down voting this.
99% they were too lazy to read or stupid to comprehend.
100% Karens

This is what happens when you put someone with a Muslim sounding name in the government. Terrorism

It’s like 5 million dollars which is nothing for a government grant. Think on how much Hunter Biden and the companies that employed him for example. They got way more money than this.
EDIT: it was lower. 3.7 million dollars over 6 years. Sorry, not enough to raise an eyebrow. I’m not even sure if Fauci was aware of it. That shouldn’t happen, but child’s play in government spending.
So it would have been ok if we were funding the Holocaust "just a little bit"
What do you think they pay those Chinamen to mess with test tubes, that's a lot of money in China

Nevertheless, in 2014, under pressure from the Obama administration, the National of Institutes of Health instituted a moratorium on the work, suspending 21 studies.
Three years later, though—in December 2017—the NIH ended the moratorium and the second phase of the NIAID project, which included the gain-of-function research, began.

Yeah, I was curious when funding came back again. We covered Gain-of-Function ethics in a research methods class I had and the government funding was virtually impossible to get at the time (under Obama).
Knowing the controversy over Gain-of-Function research, it doesn't surprise me that we (US Government) would fund it in a lab in somewhere like China as to try to reduce the risk of it coming here if it made it out of a lab.
Ethics of Gain of Function Research
quote:
Gain-of-function (GOF) research involves experimentation that aims or is expected to (and/or, perhaps, actually does) increase the transmissibility and/or virulence of pathogens. Such research, when conducted by responsible scientists, usually aims to improve understanding of disease causing agents, their interaction with human hosts, and/or their potential to cause pandemics. The ultimate objective of such research is to better inform public health and preparedness efforts and/or development of medical countermeasures. Despite these important potential benefits, GOF research (GOFR) can pose risks regarding biosecurity and biosafety. In 2014 the administration of US President Barack Obama called for a “pause” on funding (and relevant research with existing US Government funding) of GOF experiments involving influenza, SARS, and MERS viruses in particular.

If this was a weapon, it would have a higher than 1%-3% kill rate. Just saying.
You don't make a weapon that only works 1 out of 100 times.

Yeah, I don't buy the China was making biological weapons and it leaked theory. I would think something closer to something like Ebola would be far more effective as a biological weapon.
I'd have no problem believing that they were doing Gain-of-Function research and there was a breech. That makes a ton more sense.

There’s always a problem with them. Needs a little tweaking to make it a little more virulent and not just get rid of the obese, chronically ill and the elderly.
