He was about to hit the unemployment line after wasting millions in AIDS research but then the bat flu needed a czar. In the public sector, a basic principle is you never wanna hire someone smarter than you. He's failed his way up his entire career.

People blaming the doctors and scientists here are idiots. Honestly, THIS IS SCIENCE. Science is based on studies and data, and in a timeframe like this it changes quickly. All the scientists and doctors can do is spit out the info they have on limited data. Its the criminal politicians that make sweeping restrictions that are to blame

It is going to be hard for me to ever take a public health authority seriously ever again

What’s interesting was the swiftness to which they implemented these changes without any real knowledge but the hesitancy to de-escalation despite having the information.
That’s government.

Fauci has literally admitted to making declarations from a position of scientific authority only to then rescind his comments, because by his own admission he lied not to convey scientific truth, but to sway human behavior. This is incredibly damning for trust in the scientific authorities on this matter.
In reality, the ship of "we are following the science" sank a long time ago.

Several European countries never had more than 3' distancing including many that performed orders of magnitude better than the US and UK with their 6' distancing.

I was downtown H'ville Saturday celebrating St. Patricks day and it felt like old times man.
Every bar is packed and people are done with this. Almost brought a tear to my eye to see people be done with this at scale.

See, I can't read this and not immediately think of Sleazy T's.

Guess I’m an idiot then... throwing arbitrary restrictions out because “we think they work” and claim “follow the science, trust me, I’m a dr” only to be proven wrong when real data shows it invalid

There were studies 1-2 months into this thing that showed masks do little to stop it, but we were pushed with that lie and even doubled down on with “maybe you should wear two masks” only for the CDC to finally admit that the reduction in cases thanks to masks is within the margin of error

Posted on 3/15/21 at 8:24 am to stout
... but only if you wear two masks, a gaiter, and a face shield

"So CDC admitted end of last week that studies show that masks have negligible impact on stopping the spread now we are being told 6ft was all bullshite too?
Damn, its almost like science isn’t science"
The CDC is a govt agency. Govt agencies will always give you the worst case scenario and suggest that you double every control measure. From day one their goal is one thing "don't risk my pension"
