I said nothing of the sort. Why were these guys hunting that bear (which is not an exotic animal, btw)?

Which is why I typically have no issue with those hunts.

And yes, people do eat bear meat. I hear it's actually really good if you cook it right.

Very sweet. Like a steak dry aged in sugar

No ethical hunter would try to justify that kind of piece of shite action.

No sympathy of POS's like this. You can lock them up for life, as far as I'm concerned. Today it's bears, tomorrow it's a human. No thanks.

The OT is kind of schizophrenic on stuff like this. They'll attack this but defend big game hunters doing essentially the same thing in Africa.

I am offended by the use of the term "hunting" to describe killing big game in Africa, what takes place on the guided hunts is nothing more than a scripted reality show, and requires less skill than finding and shooting a cow in a pasture.

hey had come back from prairie dog hunting.

Skeeek - I am sure you are aware that prairie dogs are considered to be vermin. Have you ever seen a cow hat had to be put down after stepping in a prairie dog hole. As far as I know, they are only destructive and serve no other function. Unless you count flea hosting as a positive thing. I believe cattle producers will pay folks to kill them, since it is difficult to do.

I no longer do any long range shooting and I never killed a prairie dog, bear, elk, bison game bird or deer, but any long range shooting is a challenge. I believe prairie dog shooters use small caliber rounds and take great pride in taking out these destructive (to grazing land) animals. Chances were, they had a right to talk to other prairie dog shooters if they were any good at long range shooting. If they weren't good, they took out no prairie dogs.

Peace to you.

Stupid killer trash. I don’t get why some people get such pleasure from killing animals. Killing for food is one thing, killing solely for fun and/or a trophy is evil IMHO

Probably the best pork I ever had was from the hindquarter of a small Feral Pig, smoked.

Tasty. They should allow as many to be killed as possible. Horribly destructive - the big ones are dangerous - they multiply like crazy and there will never be a way to hunt them all out in Mississippi.

Feral hogs are considered a nuisance animal in LA. The regulations are more lax when it comes to hunting them.

My SO's family has a few thousand acres in the marsh and we hunt the shite out of them during the winter. They use the meat.

What these guys did especially shooting the Cubs is senseless and I disagree with. But some of you guys have no idea what a trophy hunter or big game hunter is. jesus. You people are fricking lunatics. Its a fricking bear! The guys broke the law and should be punished. Probably get 5 or 10 years but let's not act like he murdered a little girl.

No, but if someone has the ability to just go around killing animals... especially a mother bear and her two cubs, then it might be easier for people like that to justify killing human life.

I am not saying lock them up for a long time, because personally I don't think putting people in jail for a really long time does anyone any good, but I understand why people are pissed.

No hunters I know would ever justify this. I hope those guys get jail time for killing these bears.

It sounds like the boy accidentally shot a sow and the father, concerned for his son, tried to cover up the crime and ended up making it worse.

I won’t justify any of it, but in general, if a person accidentally killed a mother with newborn cubs, the most humane thing to do would be to put down the cubs, unless there was somewhere to bring them where they could be cared for and bottle fed. I’m not a bear hunter, so I don’t know if this was possibly an accident that they handled terribly, or if they knew what they were doing the whole time. They sound like some fricksticks.

I used to be into hunting when I was younger, now I just can’t get into killing animals. I don’t mind eating some deer someone shot, or whatever, I just don’t like looking down the barrel at a living breathing warm blooded animal that is just looking for a snack, it’s pretty disheartening tbh.

These people should be put away for murder for this

Apparently yours aren't. You replied to me going off about opinions on exotic hunts. I never mentioned that.

I also wasn't questioning your stance on the bear hunt either. I was merely questioning the motives of the hunt, and making the point that bears are not exotic animals--again, jist simply pointing out that I don't understand why my post inspired your little rant.
