Thanks for the link. According to the site, your chances of being a victim of a violent crime were 1/124, and your chances of being a victim in a property crime were 1/25.

That's why it is hard to believe that someone that has lived in New Orleans for a long time doesn't know a single person that has ever been a victim of a crime. Possible, yes. Probable, no.

The 52nd week to which you refer is not the most crowded or omst dangerous, so please explain, if you will

Or maybe they just run with the first post and don't read any other ones trying to make a gotcha moment. Either way.

It's that your general posting style makes no one want to be on your side.

Went out there with some friends one year. We didn't know it was the BC.

The entire quarter was an absolute shite show because of the people there that week. Stay away from that event at all costs.

I never found that the BC brings in a violent group. Besides from that crowd just being a pain in the arse to businesses, the biggest problem was the local hood rats using the classic as an excuse to turn Canal St. into a shitty car cruising area. Of course they would end up turning it into a virtual parking lot.

The classic really has turned into such a small event now. I'm about to take the family down to walk the French Market, etc just to get out and enjoy the weather some. Not expecting any issues.

We, my family of four, are staying at the courtyard Marriott on iberville just for the night. We did not know this weekend was the bayou classic. This place is a madhouse. I can only shake my head at some of the stuff we've seen and heard.

Never again.

My birthday is on Classic weekend every year. Two years ago we had a hotel in the CBD. I find if you stick to the Warehouse district or CBD it's not as bad. Avoid the quarter like the plague. Even Frenchmen is now overrun with Classic fans.

This, the crimes and thugs aren't the actual fans, it's the locals who treat this like Freaknik or Black Spring Break and go wild.

It's not a mystery why Penthouse is only closed for one weekend every year: Bayou Classic weekend.

a lot of places shut down. Also restaurants because of the lack of tipping in the AA culture.

to be fair, with 85% of NOLA shootings, the victim is part of a gang or a drug dealer and is killed because of that.

The only person I personally know who was robbed at gun point had it happen in Metairie at the Shell station across from Lakeside mall.

I defend NOLA, but I don't live in NOLA......the crime is just too bad.
