No, it really isn't. Just like the "God hates figs" people aren't a representation of conservatives. Look up the definition of "liberal", you won't find anything endorsing the silencing of opinions. The same if you look up "conservative", you won't find anything about hate speech.
It's time we quit giving these people the credit of belonging to credible ideologies. It's derogatory toward people trying to have actual debates and it gives them more credit than they deserve

Almost no one likes being rebuked or having their point of view disputed. If you do it on the O'Reilly Factor he'll scream the frick over you and resort to ad hominem attacks.
A libertarian or liberal advocate of John Stuart Mill's beliefs should (if they have the integrity of their beliefs) disagree completely. Civil discourse in which people disagree and debate is essential for a democracy to flourish. If you ignore the differences between liberals and progressives you are missing a chance to appeal to the decency of liberals.

Unfortunately nowadays it's never about that. Both sides just try to shout louder than the other, and it's all attacks or snippets that play well as memes, but never receive any actual deeper consideration around feasibility or effects.
Though, I do have a good buddy who's a hardcore liberal, and he and I can disagree but still have a very civil and lighthearted discourse (as I'm a moderate). It's invigorating compared to the shite we see nowadays across the board.

Yeah it really does. If you wanna discuss things civilly and find common ground (and maybe even solutions) but assholes like tea partiers and black lives matter keep fricking it up, it can be pretty frustrating.
