Pre 1999 – a farmer’s promise to his neighbors,

July 7, 1999 – Bland granted the land to the Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation, a public trust, for $10 on the condition it be used as a park,

2003 - Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation granted the land to another non-profit called the Williamson County Park Foundation,

2003, one month later, Williamson County Park Foundation gave the land to the City of Taylor,

2008 - the city of Taylor sold the land to the Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) for $15,000,

2025 – TEDC sold the land to data center developers Blueprint for $10 million.

The above is why it bothered me quite a bit that Sen Cassidy sponsored a bill to turn over a bunch of Kisatchie Nat Forest over to the state to be managed.

At first it seems maybe not a terrible thing but 25,40,60 years later after getting laundered with bureaucracy, it ends up in private hands. I don't even think they thought it had a chance to pass. They just wanted to float a trial balloon to see how the public reacted.

I hope so. Most " it's just a tax wrote offs" people are retarded. Most of the time it's a net negative for the individual.
I donated $1 mil so I could save $250k in taxes.

Why in the world would you donate something to the government?

A neighbor of ours donated an acre on the river at an old abandoned ferry crossing. people still went there to fish and his and at least two other churches did baptisms IN the river there.

He gave it to be a boat launch, etc. to assure that it would continue to be used for baptisms regardless of the sale of the rest of his farm.

Never, ever, ever donate a damned thing to any form of govt.

We'll be lucky if they don't eventually seize all private property anyway. Why on earth would you give them an easy win?

My ancestors donated land to a city for a statue of their Confederate General to stand. The statue was removed a few years ago
