The family of Joshua Woodruff, the 28-year-old Omaha native struck and killed New Year's Day by a hit-and-run driver who dragged his body from the French Quarter to the West Bank, will be at New Orleans police headquarters Friday afternoon (Jan. 22) to ask for public help catching those responsible for his death.
New Orleans police said they found Woodruff's body around 3:30 a.m. Dec. 31, 2015, on the West Bank Expressway near the General De Gaulle Drive exit. He had been standing at Dumaine and Decatur streets around 3 a.m., police said, waiting for an Uber ride when a black, four-door sedan – possibly a Toyota Camry – with tinted windows hit him.

It is crazy with the amount of cameras in the FQ and all the way across the bridge that they can't get a license plate number.

How the hell does no one see that? That's not exactly down the street.

It's obviously easy to get away with murder in New Orleans but God help you if you urinate on a building or have an expired inspection sticker.

so do they think he was under the car the whole time?

No, he probably climbed in the passenger's seat to talk to the driver for a while before heading back under the car for his final stop on the West Bank.

I've pissed all over the quarter, especially the east side. You just gotta be smart about it, and don't do it in the middle of Bourbon St

The fact that they haven't ID'd the year, make and model of this vehicle is laughable and infuriating.

"aint no place to pee on Mardi Gras day"
yep, you can drag a dude behind your car for miles and nothing happens. Piss anywhere on Poydras street and they will take you down. Hard.

I happened to meet Josh's friend who was standing next to him when this horrific event occurred. He and his girlfriend were sitting next to me on their flight into NOLA on New Year's Eve to meet Josh. We exchanged business cards and he called me Friday (New Year's Day), still in shock from what had happened a few hours earlier, and not knowing anyone in LA.
We have talked and texted a few times. even today as we both watched the news conference online. So this story has become somewhat personal to me despite the fact I never knew Josh.
He and the family are very scared right now that no more leads have come in. I assume that's why the parents are here now. To keep this in the news, put a face to this tragedy, and hope to get the public's help.
The police are asking the same thing. So that's what we need to do. They think it is a black, 4-door Toyota Camry. But it could be any make/model with those curved front headlamps. Since this, I've noticed Hyundais, Lexus, and Mercedes models all with those headlamps. Without anything more specific from the police, it could be any one of them.
So, please, if you happen to see a car with that description next to you at a light or parked in a lot that you are walking through, take a look at the front. If there is any damage to the front bumper or fenders, snap a picture and of the license plate and send it to Crime Stoppers.
Sadly, at this point, that may be the only way to catch this person.
I have to assume that this individual is from South LA. If you aren't from here, it is next to impossible to find your way out of the French Quarter and decide to go to the West Bank. That car took a very deliberate route and has to be down here somewhere.
Please just be aware and let's get some closure for Josh's friends and family.
Thanks.
