I think Ben Shapiro had it right the other day when he said this entire charade is just an attempt by leftist whites to regain their moral authority. They don't want to be morally indebted to anyone in anyway because they cant use it as a club to beat others with.

Are they trying to say that older black ladies can't cook, because that is a damn lie. There is a soul food restaurant near my work and the food is fricking great.

Because it’s very similar to the stereotypical “Mamie” character that was how most black women were portrayed commercially before the 60s. The Mamie term comes from the personal house slave, Mamie, in Gone With the Wind.

There’s a trail (that was) called Negro Bill Canyon in Moab, UT.
In 2001, the city council wanted to change the name because of the word “Negro”. Bill Granstaff’s decedents fought to keep it because they wanted everyone to know Bill Granstaff was black.
The council tried again in 2017 and got the name change passed federally.

Grew up about 15 miles from Hawkins. It's a tiny little burg. But even so, there's an HBC there. Jarvis Christian College. Also, Liilian was so tied to the town and her image synonymous with pancakes the state awarded Hawkins the title Pancake Capital of Texas.
It's a slap to her face.
