Shops get $1 per sticker. It’s a state money grab. Shops do it to get people in there for gas or other services. No money is mad selling the stickers

Mine wouldn't even adhere the day of inspection. The lady said "there must be something that's been on the window here". Yeah, last year's inspection sticker.

She said she couldn't write out another one, and used clear shipping tape to get it to stick

Get one of the new 2 year ones. You have to pay a bit more but I’ve noticed they stick much better.

All of mine are 2 years, it’s just a different year sticker they put in the box. Maybe the new year has better glue - is it “21”? All of mine are 20 or 19 I think

Just peel the sticker off and the date stays on the window. I keep the peeled tag in the glove box. Screw the state they've known about this for years and haven't fixed it. It looks better with the tag peeled off than hanging half on.

ETA: And about the 2 year ones. It's the same sticker as the 1 year they just use a different date to attach to it. So no, they don't work better.

He was, and he said it was his most popular bill ever.

But he had to pull it. It proposed to increase the cost of registration $10 and give that to state police, to buy them off because they make money writing tickets for expired stickers. (It’s always about the money, not safety.)

Everyone was happy until they realized that the state constitution sets the price of registration, so the proposed statute would not work. Would have to amend the damn constitution. Back to the drawing board.

Seems like a crappy business model the the shop at Jefferson/Drusilla that only does inspections.

I reckon, they get maybe 6 cars through that per hour and there are usually 2 workers there, some times three.

I imagine those are coveted positions ( like bar pilots) and people will do anything to get those positions. It probably pays 50 cents per hour.

This has been all over the news for a few months now. You can take it back to the place that issued it and they are supposed to put a free one on. It is illegal to tape or glue the sticker yourself. Seriously. There was a quote from the DMV saying they will let police know that it’s ok to tape the stickers for now. Not sure how that will hold up if a cop wants to write a ticket.

I have been told exactly the opposite by two shops. They say they tell people to tape them because that is what they have been instructed to do by state police. They will not swap out the sticker because they no longer have the same expiration dates to replace the original sticker.

The hicks get Inspection Stickers.

Brake Tag is strictly a New Orleans term. Everywhere else in the nation it is called an Inspection Sticker. New Orleans was the first part of the state to require them as a brake light inspection. If the state does away with Inspection Stickers, there will still be Brake Tags in New Orleans.
