Does anyone know why the GIFs no longer display and a link is shown in it's place after a few weeks past the post date? It use to not be this way. Is this Chicken saving server space or is it just an issue on my end?

It's not just you, but I'm not sure the reason it does that. You're probably right about saving space though.

I'm sure that's why, but if there was ever a thread to allow all the images to stay up, this would be it.

I'm curious WTF the guy was thinking. I mean blowing through the dangling "maximum height" thing was one thing. Then blowing up the water pipes. Then having the shite leaking down (I missed that part the first time I watches it). But the final gif where he just drives straight into the wall. At no point did backing out the way he came entered his mind.
